My OS is XP SP3; Graphic card Geforce GT 240 and AMD Phenom(tm) II X6 1075T processor. My WinDVD 2010 Pro version 10.05.163 refuses to start.
I can’t update neither because installing Servicepack 1 it reports that it can’t find WinDVD on my machine although it’s installed properly and present in Program Files.
A thing I don’t understand is that opening Servicepack 1 it obviously contains WINDVD_Pro_2010_Patch2_Nov.exe. So I’m missing Patch1 which has to be the first patch to be installed. Can anyone help me please with a solution to get WinDVD started?

I'm having the same problem, but am using Windows 7 Home Premium, on a brand new Toshiba notebook. No clue what's causing this problem but would love some input. Thanks.

The version number you gave already includes SP1, so you can go ahead and try a newer patch.
Also, the filenames of the various patches don't necessarily correspond to the service pack numbers posted on the update page.

Re: WinDVD 2010 Prodoes not start and can’t even be updated
Hi,
Thanks for your info. Since I had some minor problems in my pc, I decided to reinstall XP and all Ulead and Corel software as well. In doing so I found out (I think) why WinDVD 2010 could not work earlier. WinDVD uses the same player (Quicktime) as Ulead MSP8 does. The version of MSP 8 is of course older and can obviously not be used by WinDVD. During the reinstall of XP WinDVD was installed first and worked. I could install the updates starting with SP2 and that worked also. The main question then was whether MSP 8 still worked and that was confirmed also.
can anyone confirm my guess that the older version of Quicktime caused this phenomena?
