feathered edge

Hello all
Does anyone know of any way to produce a feathered edge to a movie clip? Similar to what people often do with photographs where the outer say 30pixels fade to transparent. Can't find any way to do it in VS X2 or in virtualdub.

Have you tried using a Mask? The clip will need to be on an overlay track. If there's not one that suits you with VS, you can use a graphics program and create your own. You can then add it to the Mask library.

Is this the effect that you are referring?

If YES, this is the VIGNETTE filter on VideoStudio X4, I'm not sure if this is available in VS X2. If you want to compare VS X4 with VS X2, you can download the trial at www.corel.com/trials.

Yes the vignette is exactly it. Thanks all very much.
I do feel a bit stupid - this is all quite obvious to those of you who have experimented with video filters but for a novice it's been quite easy to completely miss that whole thing.
