How to slow down Title playback speed?
I am using a title that scrolls across the screen, by spelling out one letter at a time.
However, I feel the speed is a bit too fast, and I'd like to slow it down.
I try extending the length of the clip, but this doesn't seem very effective.
How can I slow down the speed of this title movement?
Thank you so much!

Hi
and welcome to the forums
first can you update your profile to include your computer specifications, this will show on the right of the post, we find this useful information. Thanks….
The normal way to slow down a Titles transition is to extend the duration of the title.
However immediately below the preview screen is a blue bar this is used to set the Pause Durations
The time it takes for the text to show—the pause—then the time it takes to leave the screen.
Adjusting these limits may help
There is a short guide to Blue Bar Editing with reference to title durations - last example on the page.

increasing the lengh of the title clip is the only real way to slow scrolling text down - if your title has 10 letters and you allow 10 seconds they will go across at an averge speed of 1 second each - the same 10 letters with a clip length of 100 seconds will allow 10 seconds per letter.

Re: How to slow down Title playback speed?
I am trying to figure out how to keep scrolling title going, so can you let me know if I got this right? I fill up the first scrolling title with text. Then at the end of it, pause it with the blue bar in the preview. Then add another scolling title and add more text?
My problem was big gap black gap at the end of each scolling title.
thanks,
Candy

Thanks for any help,

Leave the blue bar alone - it does not do what you want - there is a tutorial here :- http://www.misterfrag.com/ScrollingTitle.wmv
on how to do scrolling text - this one is for text that moves sideways - but if you want the text to scroll up just keep typing lines and instead of choosing the sideways fly you should choose the vertical one.

Re: How to slow down Title playback speed?
Brian, I'm trying this, I found the "fly" direction but to keep the title going with more text, do I have to start another title and them my problem is the black gap at the end of the first one? If I add more text in only one title, I can't see what I'm typing, it goes off the bottom.
thanks for your help

Re: How to slow down Title playback speed?
NO do not start another title - that is why you get the black gaps - just keep typing in one title row after row after row after row - when you get to the bottom of the screen click in the preview but just outside the text so that the text becomes 'boxed' - click and slide the box up off the top of the screen then double click inside and carry on typing - row after row after row - all in one title.
Thanks to the wonders of the new screen capture facility in X5 I have just knocked up a tutorial on doing scrolling titles - it is a "Warts and all" video recorded on the fly - still it should help you - it can be seen here :- http://youtu.be/Iwf8Tfk8tt8

Brian, thanks so much, can't wait to try it and view your video. This is something I've wanted to do for a long time.

Re: How to slow down Title playback speed?
Brian, really liked your video tutorial on the scrolling title, thanks. I guess this could have been in a separate thread but if people search for the issue they might find it. I just finished a little video and used the scroll, this was before I saw your tutorial, so without knowing I added another text box rather than stay within the one box which I should have done. Two or more text boxes I found causes the 2nd one to move a little too fast or a little too slow. I moved the 2nd text box down a little and it was better, but one text box is the way. Thanks again,
So X5 is out? Forget X4? I am using X3. The X5 screen capture is so nice. Some of my shorter videos I do with a Panasonic Lumix camera and unfortunately X3 did not like the audio on .MOV files the Panasonic generates. What I would do is go back to X2 and it would work. I was on the forum about this for quite a while about a year ago. Anyway, I'll ask if X5 audio works with .MOV files. For another thread.
Thanks for your help with the scrolling.

Brian, I see your info under Video Studio about X5, I'll read that and watch your videos (great tool).
