Can X3 convert to PAL for a DVD?

Can X3 convert to PAL for a DVD? Just curious I have a client that is taking there wedding day video to Europe as soon as I'm done editing.

Hi

Yes you can use video studio to render to Pal.

If your program has been installed to use NTSC templates, then use the Make Movie Templates Manager to create a new template to the Pal settings.

However it may be possible to play NTSC in Europe, certainly I can play NTSC in the UK

You also need to be aware that VS does not, in my opinion, do a very good job in such a conversion. There are quite expensive programs out there dedicated to doing the job, so you can't expect such a complex process to be done well as part of a more general consumer editing program... If you think about it, to go to PAL from NTSC, 4.97 frames per second will need to be deleted from your original video. Unless some very careful processes are added to conversion, you will end up with jerk-looking video. So like Trevor I would recommend simply putting your NTSC DVD into PAL players in Europe. That also works well in Australia and New Zealand./ Unfortunately, though, the reverse is not true and few NTSC DVD players will play PAL DVDs.

As far as I am aware, PAL DVD players around the world can play NTSC, but not vice versa. Italian PAL is the same as Australian PAL is the same as Jordanian PAL etc...

I presume you are aware that version X4 has been out already for several months. And it definitely contains a much much better authoring module than X3's original one. Corel made a very bad mistake with that one...
