W7 v's Vista - Speed

Post by Quofiend »

I am finding that on a W7 , 64bit, 4Gig RAM, Intel Core DUO 2 Ghz W7 machine.
When bowsing in Organizer, a folder with 600 pics in it, it takes about 5 to 10 seconds to page forward / 'scroll down to a new screen of thumbnails, (4 per line). It will not 'scroll' cleanly through thumbnails. THis makes it incredibly frustrating to use.

Yet on my OLD Vista Ultimate machine, 32 bit, 2 Gb RAM, Intel Core2 2.13GHz. The same 600 Pics (copied over). I get instant response time in Organizer, I can scroll rapidly through the thumbbnails and open and browser much quicker.

Is this a 64 vs 32 bit issue that is known ? Or any ideas ?

Tag catalogues still fail miserably on both. (see other threads).

I don't know for sure if it has an affect on speed, but PSP is not a 64 bit program. It is just capable of running on 64 bit systems.

Just like what RON explain, PSP X3 is not 32-bit application that can be use on a 64-bit machine. Another thing about the test that you made.

There are other factors that you need to consider when testing the same program on two different machine (vista/windows7). The number of programs running in the background, windows update and psp updates that are installed.
