WINDVD9 registration blues

Post by Stan Schultz »

I bought WINDVD 9 several years ago and installed it on an older Gateway notebook. I have since upgraded to an ACER Aspire 8920 notebook (Intel Core2 Duo CPU, 2.2 GHz, 4 GB ram, 2X360 GB disks, WIN 7, yadda, yadda, yadda). I installed and registered the program on the ACER after turfing the Gateway. Subsequently I suffered a disk crash on the ACER and had to reinstall all the applications, WINDVD 9 among them.

Since then I've been vexed with periodic registration notices. However, I had registered the program with Corel earlier. I have tried to locate the registration details on my backup disks and cannot locate any. I have tried to re-register, but after much tapping of keys and many Error 404 messages (or the equivalent) I was eventually presented with an error message that effectively said I couldn't register either because I had not used a valid serial number or the product was no longer supported by Corel.

Bummer!

Since I do not wish to upgrade to the latest version yet (somebody has to convince me that WINDVD 2011 or whatever is really worth dropping the extra clams for), I need to figure out how to kill that annoying registration notice. How do I do this? A registry entry? A timed entry buried somewhere in Task Manager? A file hidden somewhere on the system drive? Somewhere else? Something else?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I suggest that you contact the Corel Support, so that they can help you in registering the program.
