Win DVD BD 2010 Enhancements

Post by StanInAsia »

When I select "Enhancements", the only available choices are for Devices (2 Speaker, Headphones or HDMO Out). All other enhancement choices are unavailable such as Technology, DSP, Audio Effect, Color, Video Enhancements, All2HD and Time Stretch. Also, a few of the set-up items are not available such as in "Audio/Video" where Digital Out Bypass and Primary Output choices are not able to be selected. I also cannot change the Region codes on BD or DVD. Please let me know if I need a patch or some other adjustment to make all the Enhancements and Setup items work.

You cannot change the region code, and this has nothing to do with the player software (WinDVD). The region code on the disc must match the region code in the drive. The purpose of the Region Code is to prevent you from playing the disc in an unauthorized region!

The region code for stand-alone players is usually factory-set. Some computer-drives allow you to change the code 2 or 3 times to get your computer set-up for where you live, then it's locked-down. (So you might be able to set-up two or more drives to play discs intended for two or more regions.)

There are black market tools for making region-free copies of discs, but this feature cannot be included in legitimate software like WinDVD. And some players can apparently be hacked to make them region-free.

There are legitimate region-free discs, such as the ones you burn yourself... It's up to the disc manufacturer. But, there are no legitimate region-free players... It's not allowed by the association that controls the licensing.
such as in "Audio/Video" where Digital Out Bypass and Primary Output choices are not able to be selected.
(Maybe someone else can answer that question...)

The feature that will be enabled on the enhancement will depend no the media that you are playing. In my case, whenever I try to play an .mp4 files, the ENHANCEMENT icon is totally greyed-out and disabled. But when I try to watch a movie from a commercial DVD, Video Enhancements, All2HD and Time Stretch are enabled.

In short if the video/DVD/BD that you are playing is the one that will determine if (Technology, DSP, Audio Effect, Color, Video Enhancements, All2HD and Time Stretch) features will be enabled.
