Corel VS X4 Ultimate

Post by AzzaBoi »

Hello Corel forums,

I just recently bought the Ultimate version. In the download instructions it said if you already have a trial version then you don't need to download it and can just use the serial key. I had the Corel Video Studio Pro X4 trial and thought I could use the key on that to get Ultimate but I was wrong. What do I do because now I have Pro but won't be able to use the key again for my Ultimate version? Please help.

I am quite surprised that a serial number for an ultimate version worked in the standard Pro version - but not in the least surprised that it didn't turn your pro trial into an ultimate version - did you really expect it to ?

Can you not now do a full clean uninstall of the pro version and then install your ultimate download and put the serial number into that ?

Could you help us out.. Is there anything different between the Pro and Ultimate, like the Build or Version numbers? Does your splash screen say Ultimate or Pro?

Notice that in your other post, however that's not really what I'm looking for. The version number could shed some light on if this ultimate release is just the same build as VS Pro X4 minus SP1, or if it includes SP1, or even if there's additional fixes that we so far don't have for "Pro" version. Such as the 50/60fps issue, installation problems with Win7 64 bit..

So far what I'm thinking is they re-released the Pro, just bundling the extras, ie; marketing to boost sales..;)

"Corel VideoStudio Pro 14.1.0.126 (Ultimate)"

...but actually I installed the SP1... :-|

Only later I had the doubt that perhaps the fixes were already included in this version.
Anyway, no issue at all during the installation on Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bits.

Is the version number the same as VSPro X4 + SP1 ?

Mine's PRO it has "Corel VideoStudio Pro 14.1.0.107" SP1 installed. So the Ultimate is has a higher build number.

So, Abiel, was it a mistake to install the SP1 over X4 Ultimate ?
Can you check with Corel whether should I re-install the X4 Ultimate without SP1 ?

One more things, that I feel Corel should check vs. a possible improvement.
I have several 3rd party plug-ins installed on my computer.
At the time I installed X3Pro, the plug-ins installation was a half-disaster, as X3 has a very limited capability to handle more than a fixed number of 3rd party plug-ins (and this should be definitively improved, in my opinion, together with the fact that if a "trial" plug-in is installed, then it can't be removed any more from the list).
So, I always kept X3 without plug-ins and I installed them within Vegas, where they work perfectly.

Now, when I installed X4, I first removed X3.
No plug-in was recognized.
I can expect that this is normal, but surely would be fantastic if the installation procedure were able to check if some of the "most famous" plug-ins (Boris, NewBlueFx, Prodad etc.) are installed somewhere and ask if the user wants to import them in VS Pro, without the need to re-install them again..
Perhaps that's not a difficult task once some information are exchanged with the plug-in vendors about how a plug-in registers itself in Windows register file.

Thanks and I expect the site admins to scold me because this part of the post should go into the X5 wish list ;-)
It's Sunday morning and I am kind of lazy to start 2 different posts... :-)

Well I'm glad they at least went to the extent of changing the splash screen. That may justify the big price for the upgrade..;)

Nope, I don't have the Boris plug-ins, don't know a thing about them. Hopefully someone else that has the Ultimate version will be able to help. Or you could try contacting Boris FX support.

Newbie to this stuff. Just upgraded to VS 4 Ultimate. Did a uninstall with the corel download clean tool. Installed VS 4 Ultimate. I can see the Boris Add on under the FX section as well as a separate progem in my programs list. I can see poordad Mercalli in the uninstall list of my control panel in my computer but i see no link in VS4. Any suggestions from those of you who have it running??

Thanks in advance
