Black Bars on FLV Create Video File

Post by raspyni »

Wits end with VS X3 and X4. Sure would love some help.

I shoot with a Zi8 in 720p mode. I import the file (MOV) and work on it in VSP X4 - no problem. I see the preview window in full widescreen (no black bars). I have tried every possible option to get an FLV file out of X4 without the black bars and it's no use.

Spent $19.99 on a Priority Support call today and Andrew Smith at Corel told me it's a problem with the program. Really? Outputting widescreen video without black bars here in 2011 is a problem for a Video Editing program? In a world of filled widescreen players, my videos alone have black bars top and bottom.

I guess I'm in the market for a new software package. I've been through 3 versions of VideoStudio and kind of like it. Anyone know of a work around?

Here is a screen shot of my X4 preview, side-by-side with what I see on the web. http://screencast.com/t/uvst4wjKfK

I also get the black bars when I view the FLV file on my desktop using Wimpy FLV player: http://screencast.com/t/SfbRQZUf

Thanks,

Barry

I just tried and had trouble as well with video from my Zi8. Then I changed my VSX4 project settings to AVI instead of MPEG and entered the same frame dimensions as desired for output. In my case I used 640 x 360 (16:9). I turned off "Perform non-square pixel rendering" since flash is only square pixel. When I shared, I created a custom FLV preset with 640 x 360 (16:9 ratio) as the WxH. I also turned off "Perform non-square pixel rendering."

The video came out widescreen as desired.

Hope that helps.

Hi Barry

I totally agree with Kingston, you must turn off Non Square Pixel Rendering when creating a Flash File.

Share Create Video File – Custom – Flash—choose the Options button …..

I tend to use 1280 x 720 set using user defined frame size.
