Dear Abiel,

it sounds great this new bundle offer.
Actually for my projects, I use 2 different NLE (one is Corel VSX3Pro, the other from a competitor) because I found that some features available here are not included there and vice verse.

I have one question, and I apologize in advance because the question also "touches" a competitor´s product.
The Boris & Mercalli plug-in included in the X4Ultimate + the new VSX4 features are surely a wish-to-have, but I wonder if the plug-ins will work on Corel VS only or, at installation time, will detect other installed NLE and be able to run there as well.
I am ready to upgrade to X4Ultimate but only if I am sure that the plug-in will not strictly dedicated to Corel, because I wish to have them available on both the NLE editors.

That's unknown, as we were not even informed that Corel was going to release a "ultimate" bundle. Now coupled with that without knowing what competitor NLE you're referring to, it's hard for anyone to provide an accurate response. It's alright to mention such things in this type of context. What we do not allow is comparisons, one is better than the other..

Ok, so if it allowed to name it: Vegas Movie Studio HD 11 Platinum.

Of course, Corel is better...

Any idea now?
Because I am not such in hurry, but still torn between upgrading right now to X4 + these new plug-ins (which,as I said, I hope to be able to use in Vegas too) or waiting to see what Corel churns out for X5

PS: ...in Sony forum I might state exactly the opposite about waht´s the best NLE... but in reality, my personal opinion is well-locked at home

Looking at the Prodad website, it lists as being compatible with VS X4, but as far as Sony, it's only compatible with Vegas Pro 9 &10, that Vegas Movie Studio is not supported. It also looks like Boris FX is the same way, they don't show any support for Movie Studio. So I would say Corel jumped on this fairing better than Sony...

We'll even if Boris & Mercalli plug-in are compatible with Movie Studio, you still need to purchase the VS X4 Ultimate with the VS X4 software. So why would you buy Movie Studio if you already have VS X4 and Boris/Mercalli plug-in are optimized with VS X4.

Hello Abiel, thanks for the comment.
I already have Vegas HD 11 and Corel VS X3... it may sound weird to have 2 different NLE, but honestly I do not care too much, as I like to choose the one that can do what I need.
For example: the painting creator function of Corel is absolutely unique!
On the other side, there are other things that I like to do with Vegas.

I would like to upgrade anyway VS X3 to X4..
In fact I have been following the prices and offers for a while, still thinking whether it would have been better to upgrade now or waiting for X5.
But then Ultimate came out... and that's why I asked my question.
Anyway, I think I will go for it anyway... after all the price is no more than the price of 3 pizzas in an italian pizzeria
I will keep fit for one week...

Look in the GET MORE>TOOLS section of VS X4 to see what may be showing in there. Boris FX has been available at a discounted price from there since VS X4 was first released. They may have linked to a special download page for both Boris and Prodad.

The Boris effects are still there ($69), but the proDad package they have ($99) is different from the one in the Ultimate announcement.

I have a problem with the Ultimate Edition on startup, it goes to a grey/black screen for ~10 seconds and if I do anything within this time then VS goes 'not responding'.
My specs:
OS: Windows 7 Home Premium
Processor: AMD Phenom(tm) II X4 850 Processor (4 CPUs) 3.3GHz
Memory: 8192MB DDR3 RAM
Graphics: AMD Radeon HD 6600 Series 1GB Dedicated.

Edit: Oh I think Mercalli is working. And I just found that Boris is an application outside of VS.

Also the Boris and Mercalli don't seem to be working

So - whats going on then Azzaboi - I have just responded to a post from you where you say you put your Ultimate serial number into your Pro trial and now have Pro but not Ultimate - so how come these questions are about starting up Ultimate - if according to your post in another topic you haven't got Ultimate - do these problems your reporting in this topic have someting to do with the magical way you've changed from Pro to Ultimate.

And can you explain - if you are patient and wait for 10 seconds while you have the Grey/Black screen does VideoStudio then start normally - many programmes do not like key pressing or mouse clicking while starting - maybe you just need to wait 10 seconds.

It would also be very nice if instead of putting your specs into individual posts you put them into your profile - so that yours appear to the right of your posts as mine do here

Yeah VideoStudio starts normally after a while.. it seems like it isn't going to start but it does eventually. I guess I can just wait. Though if I click one single thing whilst it is loading then it does not respond..
