AVCHD 2.0

Do you know if Corel will incorporate the new standard in VS Pro X5, so we can make use of it on newer camcorders?

We have no way of knowing that. I can only guess that they would.

Good question, but there are only two possibilities:
1. Corel says YES: no one will buy x4 anymore.
2. Corel says NO: most will leave Corel and look for something else.
So,..."no comments" is the only possible attitude until the new release is available.

In fact, during the beta process for X4 I asked Corel directly on more than one occasion when they would incorporate full 50/60p support. I was pressing for it to be included in X4 but at the time Corel said not enough users had the new camera to make it worthwhile. They have not given any further information since then, though I would certainly hope it would be included in X5. And include the whole new standard which for AVCHD is now a max bitrate of 27 Mbps for 50/60p and 3D.

If they are doing that they are short sighted. A good product will keep ahead of the consumer curve, a bad product behind it. They know that manufacturers will be including these sorts of specs in most of their products in the near future, so waiting for customers to buy these cameras, find your product inadequate and then move on seems very short sighted to me.

I think the issue is that they feel the need to maximise profits in the short term and consequently are not funding development to stay on the cusp of what people want
