AVI (XviD) and MP3 audio codec

Post by Oti »

Hi,

Seen here on several places on the forum that VSX4 dislike the LAME MP3 codec. Trying to create an .avi-XviD with MP3 audio, so my question is where to get an MP3 codec for the audio in my XviDs that's workable in VSX4?

Thanks in advance.

Have you tried to create your Xvid video using MP3 audio? VS has problems when you use video/audio files with Lame MP3 in your project. I have output DivX video using MP3 and didn't have any problems. My source files in my project did not use MP3. I think others have probably rendered using Xvid.

My source files are from my Sony HDR CX-700 (1920x1080/50p) MTS-files. Trying to create .avi (XviD) with MP3 audio.
My XviD video codec process is all ok, but no MP3 audio under AUDIO option.

I just installed the latest Xvid codec, and ran a short test, using VS X4. This is on a Vista machine. The MP3 (MPEG-1 audio Layer-3) was present and selected to use. My project consisting of an MPEG-4 video file (1280 x 720) was successfully rendered to an Xvid (avi) file with the MP3 audio. Checking the MP3 audio properties, it used the Lame codec.

Updating your xvid codec will be your best solution. You can download the codec here http://downloads.xvid.org/downloads/xvidcore-1.3.2.zip

I have duplicated this error, and the commonality for the issue is the 64-bit OS. When I run VS4 under a 32-bit OS (Either Win7 32-bit or XP 32-bit) I can create AVI files with MP3 Audio. When I run the same machine with Win7 Pro 64-bit, there is no audio option to create an AVI (XviD or DivX) with MP3 Audio, because the audio drop-down does NOT HAVE MP3 as an available selection!

Why? and how to fix THIS situation would be helpful information.
