PSP X3 Issues with "Save" and "Save As"

Post by arbib »

Background:
I use X3 for Tweaking RAW images after I develop them Capture One 6 Express.
I convert my RW2 files to 8bit JPGs.
I use Noiseware Pro 4 plugin with X3... no issues here
I adjust several things.
I try to "Save", or "Save As", and it does it about 1/2 the time. With the "Save As", about 50% of the time it creates a new file with "0" bites, and I can't "Save" over it. I have the "Preserve Original" OFF.
With the "Save" dialog, it acts like it saves the file, but, when I try close the "Saved" file, I get a dialog asking me to Save, or disregard any changes... SO, I Hit the <YES>, thinking it will save the file "Again in my eyes"... Nope... I have close it, and lose my adjustments. Or use the "Save As" and go through that mess...

So, Here is my Solution... Use a different editing program,

But, this is my last ditch effort for help with PSPX3, or I start using GIMP 2.6.11

Hi,

I encounter the same bug with JPG and PNG format!

My Save AS action produced a corrupt file. Thumbail shows a full grey part (for example) and some black bar at top. So a corrupt image!
There is no error repported, only when you want to see, or to use new image you see the bad result.

X2 never did it for me. New bug introduced?

I have had this problem since the last update I think (13.2.1.20)..
I can always use the "Save As" with a new file name if it produces a "0" bite file at first, and most of the time it will save to a new file properly....
But, it is a pain, and needs to work properly...If this was a free program... well, but it is set up to compete with PSE at a similar price point... SO, Corel NEEDS to fix, a stop "bean counting" to save a few $$ for bonuses!!!!!
I guess Corel isn't fixing "bugs" anymore... :( , It is very good program and deserves great support to keep it very good.

When you click on the SAVE AS... click on the OPTIONS button that you'll at the right-corner of the screen then tell me what option selected in the ENCODING and COMPRESSION FACTOR.

To keep as much quality as you can with the Jpeg, I suggest that you change the ENCODING to LOSSLESS or change the compression FACTOR to 1.

It is set to Standard and compression #1 includes EXIF data (my normal setting because I want the EXIF embedded).
I made several tests, without change.. seemed to work every-time now
Ummmm weird.

I used the save button also. without issue after several attempts. Can't say why..
I'll check the Windows 7 compatibility, and see if I need to make it Win Vista compatible instead

I tried PSP X4.... Issues with side bar menus with no icons on the swing out list... Arggggg....
Come on Corel... -Get it right...... Sheesh...... From X3 on, buggy as hell.... I run a standard Win 7/64 machine with 8gb Ram, and a i5 4 core CPU at 2.17ghz. Your standard Big Box Laptop big seller.

Went back to PSP X2.... No Problems with that version at all...

Seems like Serif Software has licensed PSP X1 or X2 for their GUI.(It is a 98% clone)... Tried the free version, but has a very low resolution preview.... NG either...

When is Corel going to learn that X2 is compatible with W7..
they say X3 and 4 is... well why is it that all plugins work in X2
and some not in X3 or X4
and today I was working with X3 and the old memory problem came up...
grrrrrrrrrrrr ok..never happens in X2..Cheers
