Capturing Problem

Post by seandirector2 »

I'm having a big problem.

I"m using Video Studio 9 and have previously captured successfully with it. But since about two weeks ago I have not been able to capture video from my camcorder. I emailed Ulead, and tried all of their advice: changing the capture plug-in and selecting the device control. I also reinstalled the program. Still nothing.

The odd thing is that when I connect my USB webcam, the computer recognizes it and I can capture from it. But I can't capture from the camcorder.

Does anyone have any advice?

How are you connecting the camcorder? You really should be using DV (Firewire) if both your computer and the camcorder support it, that's the only way to get full device control and bi-directional transfers.

USB is typically only used for transferring video at webcam resolutions and to transfer still images (if the camcorder supports this feature).

Does Windows play the Plug-and-Play device recognition sound when you connect the camera to the PC and turn it on?

Solved it

I solved my own problem. Just a simple error in the camera's settings. I really need to kick myself for this one...

Sorry to bother you all.
