X4 1920x1080/50p

Post by Oti »

Hi,

Been reading the posts here on the forum regarding 1920x1080/50p (60p) and I understand it's "out of standard" ** (so far), but is there any workaround to create a template for 1920x1080/50p (60p) for X4, or just do we have to wait for the software developers to catch up after the standard has been updated?

Using the Sony HDR-CX700 at 1920x1080/50p so would be neat to be able to create files/discs with optimized quality...

You won't be able to create a template, but you can share to a 1920x1080/50p if you have a clip with those specifications. You cannot use smart render. See this: http://forum.corel.com/EN/viewtopic.php ... 30#p222781

Hi,

In X4 can't change to 50 frames/sec or MPEG-2 as described in http://forum.corel.com/EN/viewtopic.php ... 30#p222781

I'm I missing something, or is this only for X2?

Screendump from my X4:

Any suggestions?

That's for Standard-def video. You need to choose the Custom option located at the very bottom of the menu. Then in the Create video file dialog window change the Save as type from MPEG files, to MPEG Transport Stream files (*.m2t). Next press the Options button, go to the Compression tab. You have the options of AVCHD and AVCREC. Using AVCHD the video format will be h.264 (and greyed out), uncheck AVCHD and then you can change the format to MPEG-2.

Back to the General tab, and you can change the frame rate from the SD frame rate of 29.97 or 25fps to 59.94fps (NTSC) which would be the 60fps for NTSC, or 50fps for PAL.

I can't find such menu. See attached screendumps. Where is the "Custom option at the very bottom of the menu"?

My instructions were for rendering your project, the Share step, not setting the project properties. As Kingston stated, you can not do that.

Ok, but I'm not able to share the project at 1920x1080/50p either. There is no MPEG-2 or "Custom option located at the very bottom of the menu" as far as I can tell in X4, or I'm I missing something completely? I can only see NTSC-DVD and PAL-DVD, no MPEG or MPEG-2 in the drop-down menu.

In Settings -> Make Movie Templete I can do what you write, but not able to use it anywhere as far as I can tell.

Could you please attach a few screendumps to show?

Thanks a lot! Now I got it!

One more thing though. When chosing to burn to Blu-ray discs from VSX4 (source still 1920x1080/50p [mts-files]) the result is 24p. Any way of creating Blu-rays with full-hd/50p from VSX4?

I asume VSX4 will have an update for this in the future as AVCHD standard version 2.0 (released in July 2011) now supports Full-hd with 50p/60p. I hope Blu-ray will support 1920x1080/50p in the future too... Would be great to be able to burn Blu-rays at 50p.

Thanks again.

Hi Ken

Nice one, is this a silent movie, :) or is there an issue with my PC’s audio. :(
I noticed on other YT videos that they were silent. :?: :?:

Hi Stefan

Try using Make Movie Templates Manager –Add to create a template of your original video files.
The Add function works for some types but not all, if successful, do not edit the template, simply close.
The template will be available adjacent to the Custom option.

Its worth a try, not sure if it will work though???????

No Trevor ... I think a few of us have tried the Make Movie Template > Add route more than once for 50/60p video, and it simply does not produce anything except a default DVD template. As the OP mentioned, the AVCHD standard was only recently altered to include 50/60p (plus 3D), and VS is simply not built to accept anything along those lines apart from 1280 x 720p or AVI using mpeg transport stream as the base.

Oh, and while I thank you for the kind attribution for the "silent" movie above, in fact it was Ron who made it... And it was also a select movie for me...

Trevor,
It was silent, when I read Oti's post requesting screenshots, I decided I could do the whole thing faster this way.

Oti,
When you're using interlaced video always use the same field order as your source. So if your camcorder records using Upper Field First, use that. Most camcorders that record to MPEG, will always use Upper Field First. Most all MPEG video is Upper Field First. Now taking this one step further and not to confuse you, but I think is important to mention. DV, (which uses the *.avi wrapper) almost always is Lower Field First. Here's where it could be confusing. If someone had a DV video file, made a video DVD from it, this would produce an MPEG-2 video file that would use Lower Field First. Always check the field order for the video clips you insert into your project. Never mix field orders, ie; Upper with Lower Field, one of them is going to be reversed.

Frame Based, is non-interlaced, and can be mixed with either, it will take on the field order of the interlaced video in the project.

Hi
To whom it may concern……..
Apologies to Ron and Ken for once again getting the pair of you mixed up.
I must admit it does happen a lot but I usually notice before hitting the Submit button.
