X4 Menu set-up

Post by Bimbing »

In the past using X2 when for example I have a menu with x items, after playing back one of the items, it reverted back to the menu as it should be so that another item could be selected. Now I just started with X4, after playing back one item it just stopped at the end of that item or it automatically continued playing the next item. I checked the menu settings and could not find what settings was wrong. The "manual" does not help either. Please help what setting(s) needs to be set? Thank you for any advice.

For DVD (standard-def), click the cog-wheel icon in the lower-left (Project Settings). In the Project Settings dialog the Navigation Control is located at the bottom. The default setting for Clip Playback is back to menu. Having anything else checked and it will not return to the menu after playing Title. You are aware that Chapters will not act this way. Once a chapter is selected to play, the clip (title) will continue to play until at least the end of that title.

Thank you very much, Ron.
Apparently, I checked also the other boxes. The menu items are separate Video_TS files. The video has a total run time of about 2 hrs, which I cut in separate video files (.mpg) of 30 min duration. They were then "burn" under one Title with separate 4 videos segments.

Hi Bimbling

Are you saying that your problem has been solved by setting the Navigation Controls.?

The Navigation Controls affect the Main Menu, aka the Title Menu.
For each Video File added to the timeline a title is created, if you add four Mpeg2 files then you will see four links in the Title Menu. These are controlled by the navigation options.

The Navigation Controls do not affect any chapters you may have created.

Start playing the disc from any point and it will continue to play to the end of that Title, It will then follow the instructions set in the Navigation Controls, either continue to play next title or return to main menu.

Thanks, Trevor.
I don't know yet if the "problem" has been solved because I will repeat the Create Disk this evening with the settings that you all have given me. I like to do that "CPU intensive " process wihout any other programs running at the same time. I will let you know what the result will be. However I am sure that it will work.

Hello Ron and Trevor,

Thank you both for your advises and explanations.
Yes, the problem has been solved. It was the first time that I burn with VS X4. The "Auto Repeat when playback ends" was checked and I thought that was default. Because it was checked, the "Clip playback" option was dimmed. Since the layout is the default greyish black the "Clip Playback" button can hardly be seen. That's why I missed it. Bimbing.

Hi Bimbling

Nice to hear you are successful with burning a disc.

When you “close“ the module you are taken back to the edit timelines.
If you now save the project (file save or save-as) then the details you set in the burner module will be preserved.

So the next time you open the project and do Share Create Disc you should find all your menu settings in tact.
