change language in VSProX4

Post by oldcop49 »

Hello,
I'm using VSProX4 in English,while my native language is Dutch . I wonder if it's possible to change the language to Dutch(NL) and if it is,how to do that. Thank you

I guess where you live in "Old Earth" you would be speaking Flemish... But to get to Dutch, I think you would have to reinstall and indicate The Netherlands as being where you live for the TV system question (even if you in fact live in Belgium...)

Dear Ken,
You guess right,I'm speaking Flemish because I'm living in the dutch speaking part of Belgium. I will try what you suggest but it seems so unlikely for me one have only to fill in the Netherlands at the moment of the installation to change the language of an English version ? But I will try. Thanks anyway.

Did you buy it from an English-language source?

Hi

There is an update patch for X4
I noticed the documentation had a section titled Nederlands with a separate download link, (probably the same file anyway)
I don’t know if this will help, but may be worth trying the VideoStudio Pro X4 Service Pack 1
Assuming you haven’t already installed.

I had a similar problem with the language. I wanted to use English but it was Russian after the installation (probably the setup found that it is in my regional settings or something).
So, what you need to do is to open the file u32comm.ini from the Corel VideoStudio Pro X4 in the text editor, and find a place where it says

Code: Select all

[vstudio.exe]
ShortCut=1
Name=Corel VideoStudio Pro
Version=14.0
AppIni=GG_App.ini
DefaultKeyBase=1
EnableLanguageFolderRedirect=1
EnableLocaleHook=0
UseMSAlLayer=1
ShowDetailMsg=0
;LocaleID=0404
;DebugLevel=3
now you need to replace

Code: Select all

 ;LocaleID=0404
with

Code: Select all

LocaleID=0413
(note that there is no semi-column in the beginning)

for the other language codes, you can look in the same file under [LCID] section.

Now you need to save this file (you might need first to save it on the desktop or other location because of the admin rights and then copy it to the X4 folder)

Thank you for the offered solution. I tried but the program remains in English.Ik wonder how come no one can set the desired language in a multilingual program. Thanks anyway.

I was pretty sure it worked, so I made an experiment changing the settings on my system, I managed to get Dutch GUI, and here are the screenshots,
English on the left side, Dutch on the right side. Click on the image to get a big image

again, make sure you remove the ";" from the line with the LocaleID. And when you save the file, you need administration rights to save/replace u32comm.ini file. You might want to start the notepad with admin rights first. Well, you get the point, I guess.

Let me know if it works.

Hi, I just had the same problem but to change the language from English to 'Dutch Belgium'. So I changed in u32comm.ini the code to 0813. But it didn't work. Then I tried 0413 wich is the code for 'Duch Netherlands' and that was succesfull. Work to do for Corel....
