My pc is not working

Post by Lorraine »

iI have mcafee and renewed it last month, I noticed it wasn't working yesterday as I was not getting the pop ups saying they had scanned my PC, so I clicked on icon' nothing happened and could't see if enabled, I can't see text. It's better now.

I'm on my IPAD now. McAfee went in my PC by remote yesterday. Uninstalled and reinstalled. Told me to just click on on desktop and it would tell me what to do. I did that, nothing happened.

Tried several times nothing worked online. Windows said diagnose probs. Windows said my PC was 64 and mcafee installed 32. PC is 32 bit and 64 something. I am so tired with this PC. I was up until 3:15AM this morn. Then someone said my Internet wasn't connected, I phoned ISP and they said all was fine, it has been on the blink for awhile.

No one seems to know how to get it to work or fix it. My email is with Microsoft 2003 I think, but I noticed a compatible with Office 2007. It's Microsoft outlook mail I use as I don't like WLM. I use tho' for a NG.
I
On Aug. 10, 2011 , Thursday I became a new great grandmother, a brother for my litlle 2 yr old great granddaughter

I have been using PSP but not for the past year and half. I have several versions.
I think I will try my old XP PC with which I can use PSP

I would like to know what I can do, problems with Mcafee, unable to use PC and PSP X3 isn't the greatest either.
Thanks

Have you given McAfee a call? I believe they offer phone support for just this type of thing, but I could be wrong as I don't use McAfee. It is frustrating when something like this happens.

Sorry we can't be of much better help, but this is the PSP forum. There are other forums elsewhere on the web that can help, but it does get rather techie and sometimes delving in can be more of a hassle than you're up too.

Microsoft Office 2003 does have a compatibility update to make it readable by Office 2007 and 2010 versions of the same software. For the most part ignore that unless it's really giving you some grief.

Does the computer allow you to do anything at all or is it frozen? If it's frozen and you can't do anything at all for longer than a half hour (no mouse movement, no blinking lights, no nothing but a frozen screen) then you can press and hold your power button for 4 or 5 seconds and it will do a hard shutdown. This is not good nor recommended but sometimes it's necessary. When you start again it will tell you that it did a bad thing and ask if you want to start normal or in safe mode. Try normal first, but if that freezes everything again do the power button and try safe mode with network access (the internet) and see if you can update your McAfee from there.

On a side note Microsoft put out an update batch on Tuesday that gave me issues. Restarting the computer a few times the proper way did seem to do the trick for me.

Thanks Dan ,
I have been in windows and on the phone with them, They are in India, he tried but I guess it was his quitting time or he couldn't fix it as my line went dead after quite a long time, Then I had someone online, he was on my computer by remote so I don't know what he did, he just said to close and click on desktop Icon and it would work or tell me what to do, I did that and it didn't work, nothing worked at all.
there was a .dll missing I saw last night, I really don't know if it was mcafee or windows that told me
I know it is for PSP but whoever will wonder why I keep refusing to burn on CD, it said Corel. Some kind person has been coaching me to burn, I don.t know who except it was from Corel.
Whether it,is here or there, I don't know.

Dan; Sorry that I forgot to answer about whether my PC was frozen. NO, it wasn't frozen at all.
The email didn't work, Internet explorer didn't work nor could I get any other browser to work even Google ;)
I believe I opened PSP X 3 which I think installed offline, I have it ticked for PC never to work Offline.
My ISP at one time kept cutting me off. I have been using cable for 12 0or 13 yrs.

I forgot to mention that one of them uninstalled and installed McAfee and told me to just close PC and then click on
The Icon he just put on desktop.
Thanks a lot,
Yes it sure is a lot of fun. Lol

Lorraine ..I see you have a dell computer..
I have a friend who has the same and it would take forever to get her computer to start..
In your taskbar is there a Dell icon if so try and disable it..
Have you tried starting your computer in safe mode..
Cheers

Lost the reply I just wrote for filly. Anyway I right clicked on compatible in the Mcafee icon and it said the computer was XP. Unable to change it. No wonder I can't do anything with it. Yes, I have started it in safe mode. They don't know what the problem is. So many looked at it. Thanks Filly. Will try to delete Dell icon. I am not insured with them anymore.

Lorraine I would have asked her for you but she is away..
From memory we stopped the Dell update??? from starting up.
Do you know how to go and do that,
Check your startup programs if there is a Dell update untick it..
I will ask her as soon as I can for you..Cheers
