Hello All,
As a first time user and poster, I am quite impressed with c3dps and the quality of the interactions on this board. In order to learn some of the features of the product, I have been toying with the samples provided by Ulead.
Question: using the rotating wireframe globe and orbiting text, is it possible to have the text fly in from off-screen and then orbit the globe? I can make the text fly in a straight line and also rotate around the globe (since that was the original sample), but I haven't figured out if it is possible to smoothly transition from path animation to surface animation. Am I able to use both path and surface animation in the same timeline on the same text object?

The best thing (and it is NOT good) that I have come up with so far is creating a path for one letter, and then repeating that set of parametsr (positional and rotational) for each susequent letter, and spacing them every couple of keyframes along in the timeline. Yuk.
Cool3D latched on to the X, Y, Z paramneter of my first object (a spinning coin as opposed to your spinning globe), so I had to create the "text movie" separately from the "spinning object" movie, and blend them in a regular movie-assembly program

Sure you can. I did the opposite - started with the text revolving around the globe and then 'unwrapping' itself to be displayed front and center while the globe continued to rotate. If anything, it could be reversed to get your effect. I don't have the project in front of me right now, but hopefully the confirmation that it can be done will get you started.

I tried looking for my file to give you some pointers, but I must have deleted it (surprising, since I hardly ever delete anything). So, what I can barely remember...
- the text is spinning around an invisible object using surface animation
- I _think_ I created my own text to center around the object. Note there is an object in the earth called center. Use that as a reference.
- Initially I had the text bent, and rotating around the shared center point. Eventually I stopped the rotation, moved the text, and unbent it.
You can also play with moving the keyframes for the surface animation.
