File Mismatch

Post by nancyd »

Hi,

I have VideoStudio Pro X3 and when I try to insert movie clips I get a "File Mismatch" message.
My clips are created from a smart phone - Samsung Fascinate - and are of .MP4 format.

Is this supported?

Thanks,
Nancy D.

Hi Nancy

Its difficult to say if video studio supports the video.
There are so many types out there that some are not going to be recognised.
Knowing the full properties of the file would probably help, a bit of a problem as you cannot open in VS.

There are programs that will convert to a more suitable format, maybe that’s the route to take. (Super etc)

Does the phone come with any software that may install the correct Mp4 codecs?

If you have a small video file (under 10Mb) and you are able to send via e-mail then I will try on my system. View my quick guide for my e-mail address

It may however be an operating system issue but you don’t give any details.

She didn't exactly say that, and clarification would certainly help.

When you say you can't "insert" the clips, do you mean you can't insert them into the timeline?

Can you capture the clips - i.e. are they in the VS library? If so, then right click on one and post the properties.

Hi,

Thanks for the help here.

To clarify:
When I "Add Video" to a new project or "Insert Video" on the timeline, I get the same problem - File format mismatch.
I have attached a picture of the mismatch dialog that I get and I know of no software of codecs that come with the phone.

Thanks for the offer of sending along a small clip. I'd like to do that.

P.S. I have also updated my profile.
