Hi Ron
Thanks for that, I think in the past i may have installed a Beta Div x version, i may have a codec conflict.
I am cleaning my system at the moment, although i dont use div x that much, it would be nice to think it works ok.

This is to confirm that, like Ron, I have tested 6.9.2 on X4 and it works correctly.

Re: DIVX conflicting with VS ?
And finally it also works for me inside VS X4.
Also my "problemproject" which didn't do well in the Divx Plus Converter was free from flaws when done with VS.
What better is... I have also found why we get black videos.
Don't try any of the Divx settings with multipass encodings inside VS. You will end up with black videos.
And now when I can do it I rather choose WMV videos for my own homepage. Simply the best for that purpose as I been told here.

Hi Radioman
Thanks for the info regarding MultiPass
I have been creating black video for the past few days and recently now getting an error message relating to codecs or incorrect frame size.
However all is well when selecting 1-Pass.
I only started with Div X to help out with this post, now I have it working you’re gonna use WMV,
Mind you I don’t blame you.
For uploads to Youtube I tend to use either AVI with Mpeg4 compression or Mpeg4, both seem to give similar quality for HD video.
For my web page either Flash Video or WMV
I have to be a little choosy as some templates use NTSC settings 30fps, and I’m in UK using Pal

Re: DIVX conflicting with VS ? (NO Problem solved)
Hi trevor
I hope some more can be helped out with this thread. It seems that the "fiddlers", the one's who can't even think about using the default settings, are also those people who most often fall down in the pits
I am trying a lot of compressors right now. I mostly burn my movies on DVD but are beginning to think I also will have them as files on my HTPC. Maybe then the Divx is a good choise? I just tried with some high bitrate mp4, H.264 but got stucked in the middle, with no responce from VS. I have to try some more.
I also recomend VirtualDub to test with small clips and maybe some filtering to see what you like. It's a superb free software and it can see other codecs that's not showing up in VS.

Re: DIVX conflicting with VS ? (NO Problem solved)
I confess I have not tried encoding any commercial movies using HD DivX, though have seen samples which look pretty good. But my experience with SD movies encoded with DivX and then played back on large HDTVs has not been good. There is always bad blocky pixelation in your "favourite" part of the screen -- the black parts! They are moreover definitely not black but varying shades of grey.
Regarding multipass, I remember several years ago running a series of experiments with DivX to work out which settings gave me the best results. I posted the results here in this forum. I recall having problems with multipass at that time, though will need to find my original post in order to check.
EDIT: Much to my surprise, I found my old post first off. You can see it at http://forum.corel.com/EN/viewtopic.php?p=79410#p79410
