stopmotion can't detect EZCAP
Hello, my camera is connected to the PC via EZCAP.
VideoStudio shows EZCAP in it's video capture list and do capture video via EZCAP.
But in stop motion, VideoStudio dont list EZCAP... so no stop motion. What a disappointment...
Do you think that if VS can capture video from EZCAP, there is a way it can also detect it for stop motion?
Thanks....
PS - some tech info...
PC - win7 64 bit
CARD - EZCAP (this is an A/V to USB device)
SW - VideoStudio Pro x4

Re: stopmotion can't detect EZCAP
Please see a sticky post at the top of this forum on the subject of real and fake capture devices called either Easy Cap or EZ Cap: http://forum.corel.com/EN/viewtopic.php ... 30#p211330 . Depending on when you bought the device, you might have a fake one. But either way, the legitimate device does not come with VS, but with an ArcSoft product. The old legitimate product -- and possibly the new fake one -- came with a Special Edition i.e. cut down and tweaked version of VS 10 and earlier. And the newer versions of VS were simply not made by Corel to work with either device, and this includes X4. We always advise people with capture devices to use the software which came with the device for capture. This applies whether the device is real or fake. If it came with VS 10 SE, then use that, though again I caution this suggests the device might be a fake one. If it came with ArcSoft, then use that for capture and open the captured video in X4 for editing.
In any case, please tell us which camera you are connecting to your PC. It could be that there may be some other way of capturing.

Hi
and welcome to the forums
I can only assume that Stop Motion only works when using a DV device, DV Camcorder connected via firewire.
It does work with my GS400
I have tried Ezcap and like you cannot activate Stop Motion.

Re: stopmotion can't detect EZCAP
Ken,
I bought VideoStudio Pro x4 from Corel.
Before I bought EZCAP I asked Corel about using is with VideoStudio, but their answer did not contain conclusive information.
I bought the original EZCAP from this site http://www.ezcap.tv.
It came with AcrSoft Sw (havn't used it yet). So it's the original one.
VideoStudio detect EZCAP for video capture but strangely it doesn't detect EZCAP for stop motion....
About my CAM - panasonic sdr s50

Hi
Ok
I connected my GS 400 via USB to the pc not through Ezcap
The camera was recognised as a USB Video Device
I was able to use Stop Motion.
Your camera records to Memory card, I assume you upload the video using a USB connection.
Try connecting without using Ezcap.

Trevor hi, I bought EZCAP because my cam is not a "USB Video Device Class".

Re: stopmotion can't detect EZCAP
Let me share with you what I found.
In Windows device manager....
EZCAP drivers appear under "Sound, Video and game controllers".
But the webcam (of the laptop) is listed under "Imaging devices".
EZCAP + cam --> VideoStudio caputre OK but no stop motion
webcam --> capture video and does stop motion

Hi Trevor,
There are two separate and distinct flavours, "USB Video Device Class" and "USB Storage Device".
The first meaning video streaming and the second is for file transfer....

Re: stopmotion can't detect EZCAP
This EZCAP - VideoStudio compatibility issue is possibly caused by
1. EZCAP lacks a windows "imaging device" driver.
2. A bug in VisualStudio - a sample C# application detect EZCAP as USB Video Device Class
3. A configuration mistake - can be fixed by the user.

Re: stopmotion can't detect EZCAP
Hi
I can understand your concern that X4 does not seem to recognise the Ezcap Device when using Stop Motion. Certainly other devices connected via firewire seem to work with Stop Motion
But I don’t understand why you cannot connect your camera (SDR-S50) via USB without the Ezcap
I assume you are connecting from the AV- output terminal to Ezcap, this terminal is adjacent to the USB
The images showing from the manual clearly show a USB terminal on the camera, immediately below the SD card slot.
I suppose what I am saying is that you don’t need Ezcap for the Panasonic SDR-S50, the device (Ezcap) would normally used to capture from an analogue source VHS etc
In fact your camera records to Mpeg2 and or AVCH264, quite a high quality video, Ezcap/X4 will re-code the video to the settings under the cogwheel, possibly reducing the original quality of the video
The normal method to transfer the video would be to copy and paste the contents of the memory card.

Re: stopmotion can't detect EZCAP
Trevor, simple transfer of files via USB is not what x4 stop motion is all about.
I can and did copy files via USB from my cam. For that purpose the whole x4 is useless.
In x4 stop motion when you move your toys you see them on top of your previous frame.
That makes stop motion making much more easy.
I might have to by an external webcam....

Hi
Connect the camera to the pc via USB without using Ezcap
Play the video on the camera
Try Video Studio’s X4 Stop Motion
Does it work?

Re: stopmotion can't detect EZCAP
Update - I uploaded 2 screen snapshots to the original post.
VideoStudio capture screen - allow the use of EZCAP and show it on camera list
VideoStudio stop motion screen - dont show EZCAP in camera list
