Update and Service Pack Confusion

Post by KeithC »

I just purchased the download version of Paint Shop Pro X3 Ultimate. It installed at v. 13.2.1.7. I check for updates through the program and it indicated there was one. I downloaded it and it installed, changing the version number to 13.2.1.20. This seems to be a downgrade. I then deleted the program and reinstalled the downloaded file, which returned it to 13.2.1.7.

In addition, there are 4 Service Packs listed on the Corel website. But nothing tells me if I need one or all or in what order. Given I have the latest download ... should I do anything???

Thank you,
Keith

If your version number is 13.2.1.20, then you have all four service packs.

It wasn't a downgrade 20 is larger than 7. From Ultimate you only need patch 3 and then patch 4. There is a beta fifth patch that seems to fix a single problem but you need to look up the selection bug in the Corel knowledgebase.

And I think the version number you gave indicates you have all of the normal patches installed.

Edit: beat to it, Hahaha.

I am a new user and just installed from the mailed DVD. My version is 13.0.0.259
I see there are four updates (service packs) on the server however the latest update is only 11 MB while its predecessor is 42 MB.

Are the updates inclusive? Or do I have to install all 4 sequentially?

Well, I empirically answered my own question.
I tried installing the last 2 service packs but both times I was informed I had the latest version. I guess the last portion of the version number tells it all.

Yeah, not quite ledoc254.

Look back at what wds937 said about the version number:
If your version number is 13.2.1.20, then you have all four service packs.
And you claimed your version was 13.0.0.259. Your version number is smaller than the one that has all four service packs installed. So either you were mistaken about your version number or the error messages on patches 3 and 4 were erroneous.

We actually had a big topic on this a while back which I could remember what it was called. Someone gave all of the version numbers plus the patches that gave those numbers.

PSPX3 Ultimate edition came with patches 1 & 2 pre-installed. So if you started with PSPX3 Ultimate then Patches 3 and 4 should have installed for you.

If, however, you started with just regular PSPX3 then you needed to start at the beginning starting with Patch #2.

Patch #2 - includes Patch #1 so you only need to start with Patch #2
Patch #3 - builds off of Patch #2 and needed for Patch #4 fixes and breaks a few things.
Patch #4 - Fixes a few things and fixes a couple of the things Patch #3 broke but not all of them.

Patch #5 - beta - needs Patch #s 2, 3, and 4 installed in order to be installed. Fixes a bug where pixels are deleted when defloating a selection, or merging down a layer.
