error message "[SDK-Custom] you dead....at fnSetMenuPag

Post by duckrogers »

The above is an error message(excluding quotes) that I get often (not always) when I hit the "customize" button to change the layout,or buttons, etc. It then goes to the custom page but no drop down menu exists forforthe customization.

Awfully weird error message. Especially the "you dead" part.

Also very frsutrating.

It's a disgusting and disgraceful message, and I've told Ulead so!
They did have the decency to agree but that still leaves us stuck with it.

Dear all

I am checking with the engineers right now about the origin of this message, and would like to apologize on behalf of Ulead for this. It happens that engineers will write error messages as "placeholders" while they are coding, and obviously this one slipped through into the final version. I assure you now disrespect to anyone is intended.

As soon as we have identified it, we will make it a priority to release a patch or binary file to fix it.

Regards

Try as we might, we just cannot duplicate this error message here at Ulead. ANYONE who has had this appear, could you please email me directly at tobieopenshaw@ulead.com.tw, and give me as much info as possible:

1. OS/service pack version

2. project format: DVD or VCD?

3. ufo file name

4. trial version, download or retail version?

5. video format used

6. Did you use one of the templates provided, which one, did you modify it with your own background? How about audio? If someone can send me a screenshot of the message, even better ...

7. Step by step, what happened when? (from when you launched the software)

Thanks a lot for all cooperation

Create DVD project - insert video file - go to menu creation - blank out "My Title" - then try to customise. Error message every time.

OK GREAT! Thank you very much everyone - we are able to duplicate it here, and I already tried a fix supplied by the engineers. As soon as we have verified the fix, I will post it here - hopefully by tomorrow.

Thank you very much to everyone who pitched in.

Thanks for your comment Tobie about the nature of the message, and for your effort in dealing with it.
This is nothing new though; it's been mentioned many times before. Why is it being dealt with only now?

Yup. That's the one. Thanks for going to the effort. I also think it has somethign to do with changing backgrounds.
Thanks again,
DR

PS: Seems quote option here, not working.

Any news on a solution yet?

It may be just a coincidence but I have just increased RAM memory and hard disk capacity, and when the idiotic message appeared the program still continued working whereas previously it has always crashed completely upon the message.

For me the program still runs but customization is not an option.

Ok everyone, here is the fix for this bug:

Go to:

http://ftp.ulead.com/Silent/dmf4/umfMenuSDK.zip

Download and unzip the umfMenuSDK.zip file into DVD MovieFactory 4 main program folder (C:\Program Files\Ulead Systems\Ulead DVD MovieFactory 4) to replace original one.

Again, our apologies and thank you for your patience.

Thanks Tobie.

I would suggest that people locate the file using Windows Explorer, as mine ended up in C:\Program Files\Ulead Systems\Ulead DVD MovieFactory 4\Ulead DVD MovieFactory 4.

Just make sure that you are asked to replace an existing file during the extraction from the .ZIP file.

Will be good to see that last of 'you dead'. I had another occurence just this evening.

Thanks Tobie.
Can we be quite clear about this?
There is a .dll of that name in

C:\Program Files\Ulead Systems\Ulead DVD MovieFactory 4\Ulead DVD MovieFactory 4

not in

C:\Program Files\Ulead Systems\Ulead DVD MovieFactory 4

as you said.

Are we supposed to delete the .dll from that first file and replace it with the new one?

Mine was in here:
C:\Program Files\Ulead Systems\Ulead DVD MovieFactory 4.0 Disc Creator\Ulead DVD MovieFactory 4.0

I would rename the existing one to "old_umfMenuSDK.dll", then copy the new one into the folder. This worked, and got rid of the error message :)

Thanks Tobie and Ulead for resolving this :)
