Wrong Date Sections in Organizer

Post by Kwake »

Hi, I'm new here having just purchased X3.

While working with some photos taken this summer, I noticed a strange issue where Organizer is sorting pictures by Date (using Date Created/Oldest) and showing a few pictures at the top under the correct date section (for example July 19th 2011), but then breaks to a new date section indicating July 28th 2011, in which the rest of the pictures in the folder are displaying - even though these pictures are still all from July 19th.

I've attached a link to a screenshot to make it clearer to understand: https://picasaweb.google.com/lh/photo/8 ... directlink

Anyone else experiencing this problem? I'm running X3 on Windows 7 Pro 64bit.

Thanks,
Ken

The only reason that I can see why the DATE CREATED on the Organizer is different from the DATE CREATED under the filename is that you may have unknowingly ADJUST the DATE CREATED. What you can do is to right-click on any empty-space of the organizer and select REFRESH. The should help the software retrieve the updated DATE CREATED of the Photos.

Hi Abiel, thanks for your response and help. Unfortunately, refreshing doesn't change anything.

In my case, I haven't changed the dates on the pictures, they are recently imported and untouched.

It seems like this may be a bug in the software that may require a fix. Are there no other reports of this issue?

I can try installing the program on another machine and test if you think that is a good idea.

Regards,
Ken

Hi Abiel,

I tested your recommendation to refresh and the issue remains the same.

Do you have any other suggestions?

Ken

You can try resetting your workspace. You can do that by pressing and holding down the SHIFT key then double-click on the PSP icon then when you received the message "DO YOU WAN TO RESTORE PAINTSHOP Pro TO ITS DEFAULT STATE?" just click OK.

FWIW, I see the same thing in the Organizer. I don't think restoring the workspace has any effect on this. I don't use the Organizer, it really is of no use to me. I store the majority of my photos on an external HDD, and have a folder structure created, where I have the root being the year, then create a folder inside the year folder, for each month. When I transfer my photos from my camera, I then create a folder in the appropriate month, providing a descriptive name that tells me what photos are in that folder.

I only noticed this glitch after reading your post. Looking on my laptop, where I have some photos I work on stored, I discovered the inconsistent dates.

Thanks Ron for confirming that it isn't localised to just my computer.

I guess I'll just switch to Filename sorting, they are showing in the correct order that way.

Just figured I'd raise the issue in case Corel wants to fix it in a future release.

Thanks all, this thread can be closed.

Cheers,
Ken
