In PSP P X2 and PSP X3 Ultimate

Post by Lorraine »

OS Windows 7 IE8 580 Dimension
I was trying to fix a picture's background last
night and the Push tool didn't work.
Nor did the Smudge. I tried in both versions.
I tried to make a Stat, (Slide) I guess it would turn out to be,
the background didn't fill after making a tile seamless.

Do I need to update? I don't see any place to update in
PSP X3.
another question:
My tools are too small for me to see them, how can I make them
bigger. There was a box showing up beside some pictures in PSP X2,
that said it was zoomed to 500 kb..Now the puter has gone to
French and I donèt use written French.......
I will throw this PC out and try to get my XP fixed.

About the Push and Smudge tools not working, make sure you're on the layer that you're trying to make adjustments too. Make sure you don't have a selection made, the Marque (the dotted outline around the edge of a selection) can be hidden if you click Selection> Hide Marque or Ctrl+Shift+M. It's not unheard of to hide the Marque with the keyboard accidentally.

As for the tool icons being too small click View> Customize> Options tab> and check Large Icons.

For the language click File> Preferences> Switch Languages and see if you can get it done that way.

Good luck.
Regards, Dan

Thanks Dan, I will try to write this message again. I lost the previous one when I went to File, Prefs to fix the French writing... I can't even write French very well so never use it.
There it's fixed. Thanks it was very annoying.

I tried with the push and smudge in PSP X2 and X3 and neither will push or anything. It is a photo of my Great, Great 2 yr old, granddaughter. I asked my daughter the Grandmother, who uses a Mac, if it was Photo Shopped and she said; "No, it is her own hair." I said "Are you sure, it isn't something that has been worked on?" I got "No" for an answer. It looks like it is the same background, but I can't tell. I know the little one likes to play with brooms and mops as she cleans while playing.....sort of..:)

I don't want to post the picture publicly. Thanks for the help.
The photo hasn't any border on it.. seems plain enough, so I don't know.

They really must have moussed, fluffed and teased it to make it looks so nice...

About my icons in the Tools being hard for me to see, when I mouse over, text is small too.
Will it make the icons on my desktop Larger. That I don't need, very seldom use them.

Lorraine,

Your desktop icons will not be changed. By following Dan's instructions you will only change the icons within PSP.

Aside from following DF's suggestion you can also try and resetting your workspace by following these steps. You can do that by pressing and holding down the SHIFT key then double-click on the PSP icon then when you received the message "DO YOU WAN TO RESTORE PAINTSHOP Pro TO ITS DEFAULT STATE?" just click OK.
Reset PSPX3.jpg
Another thing, PSP X2 Ultimate is not fully compatible with Windows 7, though there are users here (including me) that was able to install and use PSP X2 Ultimate.

Thanks Abiel; I think it works, I need lots of experience to use it and
PSP PX3. I think I liked PSP X the best.
It works, it seems but I'm not very good yet...:)

thanks

Lorraine, are you using the Graphite interface? If everything looks a very dark gray then you are. You might be able to see your icons more easily if you turn that off. To turn it off go to the View menu and uncheck "Use Graphite Workspace Theme"
Using Paint Shop Pro versions 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 12, 14, 16

Linda Sue: (or anyone)
"Use Graphite interface was checked." I unchecked it and
tried what you suggested with the Graphite interface and the icons went grey.
So then I put it back with the checkmark. It's better than Gray. I'm using PSP PX3 ultimate which evidently need the checkmark.
thanks Linda sue.
