Video Studio Pro X4 No Sound
I have Video Studio Pro X4 with Service Pack. I installed Xvid 1.3.2 and DivX. The problem is that I have no sound when I add chapters to dvd. When there are no chapters, the sound is OK.

Hi and welcome to the forums
What do you mean “No Sound”
Are you referring to the menu that plays before the main movie or are you referring to the main movie (the title)
What process are you using to burn the disc.
Are you creating a video file first using Share Create Video file, or are you simply doing Create Disc.
The latter will force a render of the video prior to burning the disc.

Re: Video Studio Pro X4 No Sound
...And are you trying to burn a standard video DVD (which must use mpeg-2 as the video format) or are you trying to burn a disc using DivX or XVid video in that format? If the latter, you shouldn't be using VS at all apart from editing and producing a new video file in those formats...

This can also be a codec problem, since you already have xvid and divx then you can update the following codecs.
RealPlayer: http://www.real.com/
Windows Media Player: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/wind ... dia-player or just download the Windows Encoder at http://www.microsoft.com/expression/pro ... rview.aspx

Re: Video Studio Pro X4 No Sound
I try to burn a standard video DVD without menu, only with the main movie. Some movies have sound from beginning to end, but some have the sound in the first chapters or no sound. If I do not put chapters, I have no problem.
I use Create Disc.
I use Create Disc.

Re: Video Studio Pro X4 No Sound
Then you should try an alternative workflow. Instead of jumping straight to Share > Create Disk at the end of your editing, choose instead Share > Create Video File > DVD if the project is an hour or less long. This will produce a DVD-compatible mpeg-2. Then when that is done, click File > New Project. Don't bother giving it a name -- the objective is just to clear the timeline. Then you choose Share > Create Disk > DVD, and when the burning module opens, insert your new mpeg-2 file. Make sure the box beside 'Do not convert compatible MPEG files' is tick in the Options cogwheel icon in the bottom left of the burning screen. This will ensure that no further conversion of your video will take place during the burning process. If you include a menu, only the menu should be converted.
If, as I suspect, your project is longer than one hour, then you would need to choose Share > Create Video File > Custom. Give the new file a name. Then click on the Options button and the Compression tab which appears. If the project is 90 minutes or less, then change the bitrate down from its default of 8000 kbps to 6000 kbps. Or if it is 2 hours or less, then it should go down towards 4000 kbps, though the quality will drop off markedly beyond that. You can also get about 10 minutes more video if you choose Dolby Audio.
This workflow will allow you to first test your new mpeg-2 before it goes into the burning module to see if the audio plays correctly in a software media player.
