cant remove windvd creator

Post by littlemiss »

Hi all,
hope someone can help me.
I had to do a compleate reformate of my computer and set it back to factory settings, unfortunatly it has put back on a very old version of windvd 2 Version 2.0B014.343C7W, I am tring to remove the program but it keeps coming up with an error Missing HpSdpAppCoreApp.
As it was pre installed when I bought the computer and it is probably on my recovery disk how do I solve the problem because to insert my recovery disk in my computer Im sure it will auto start a formate again also there are 6 disks so I dont know which one has the program on it.

Welcome to the forums!

In fact WinDVD Creator has nothing much to do with WinDVD. It was a program originally developed by InterVideo which was subsequently taken over by Corel, who dropped the program in favour of Movie Factory which it had inherited when it took over Ulead...

Are you trying to remove the program via the usual method of going into Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs?

But I am wondering if in your circumstances whether you should just delete the program files in their entirety from C:\Program Files\. I know this is definitely not the usual way of going about things, but I can't see it causing much of a problem either since it is not a program which starts up automatically with Windows. Or you could just leave it there if space on your hard drive is not a worry.

Hi Ken,
Thanks for your reply. I cant beleve how obvious the answer was  . I think its so ingrained into the brain to remove programs the correct way we dont think of doing any other way!!! Anyway its gone now  I know I could of just left it there but it was bugging the hell out of me for the simple reason Im stubbon (more so then an unremovable file).
Cheers
