Cannot install PSPPX3

Post by Galerietje »

Hello all,

I'm new to this forum. I bought the official PSPPX3 DVD from http://www.slim.nl. But there is no possibility to install it. In the attachment you will find what is happening. In a few words: starting set-up works fine, but then I get two screens telling that a DLL file is not registered. The first one: Progess.js and the second one Tabs.js. I continued by clicking Yes two times and I waited for a long time to see if the process would be going on.
But, nothing happened.
Is there a way to do something about this?
Anyone with the same experience?

Thanks in advance for any kind of help.

Corel offers free support for installations. If you start a request now we may get you up and running before they get back to you but if not then at least you've saved some time. If the site you've bought from sent you a pirated disk or something isn't right that may still be a dead end though, I'm not familiar with .nl websites.

When installing it's recommended (by the users here on the forums, not officially from Corel) that you turn off all security measures. Turn off UAC, turn off or shut down your antivirus, antimalware, antispyware, firewall, adblocker, etc.... Since you have a DVD and not a download you should be able to disconnect from the internet completely while you're doing this. When running the installer from the disk right click the EXE file and run that as an administrator. Of course you should turn off any other programs that you can while installing. It's a fickle beast. I would even go so far as to restart your computer, turn off anything and everything, then try to install.
Regards, Dan

Also update your Java. One time someone reported something similar, though not exactly the same, and updating his Java install fixed his problem. It's just crazy enough as far as PSPX3 is concerned that it just might work if nothing else does.

Thanks for your reactions.

It's a real Corel DVD. And yes, I did all those things you described, cause the first thing I did was study this forum, but so far nothing helps. Since there is obviously someting wrong with .js files I also checked the Java system (Java 6 update 26) which is the latest update.

I never ever experienced these kind of problems before with other purchased software. I'm working with the Acer M3920 with Intel's i7 processor on 3,4 Ghz with a SSD drive combined with another Sata Harddisk in Raid1.

Any other possibilities are most welcome!

Another work-around that you can try is to create a new Windows user name with admin rights and use that user name to install the program.

Thanks Abiel, but I have tried that allready and that didn't help either. I'm struggling with these two screens coming up, saying script failure on this page...
Line: 138 - Failure: DLL-File not registered - URL: file:///D:/Downloads/PSPP_X3_VLP/Lang/NL/Custom/js/Progress.js and the second warning almost identical:
Line: 179 - Failure: DLL-File not registered - URL: file:///D:/Downloads/PSPP_X3_VLP/Lang/NL/Custom/js/Tabs.js.
On both warnings there is that message: Go on with script on this page and my answer so far was yes and no. In both cases the install procedure hangs.
I tried all that also after copying the DVD on a separate part of one of the harddisks. Nothings helps..
I really don't know what to do anymore...

Any ideas?

@ galerietje

If something can't be registered this normally means restricted access to registry and .js errors are normally related to browsers.

Please contact your local Corel support and we will help you.

galerietje -- please note that for some reason, Simone's link will not work if you click on it alone -- only part of it is shown as a link. I have tried to correct this but it still will not show. So therefore, please copy the whole link, including the part outside the blue link, and then paste it into your browser in a new window, and that should work... In my case it shows at http://www.google.co.uk/search?hl=en&ne ... =&aql=&oq= And though this shows on screen as incorrect, if you Ctrl+Click, it should lead you to the correct page...
