UPD file problems
I have just completed a slide show using Corel Pro X2. I am now ready to render it by going to share and selecting "same as project settings" this rendered rather quickly to a UPD file.
On playback the picture was slightly unstable but the sound was awful, music and sound effects were barely discernible overwelmed by a Buzzing and crackling sound.
Can anyone explain why that should be and possibly, how to fix the problem.
Thank you
Jaysto

Re: UPD file problems
The UPD file is a data file, not a video file.
What do you want to do with the end product?
This will decide on what settings to use to produce your video file, but in the mean time, tell us what your project settings were, so we can see what it was supposed to be.

Re: UPD file problems
Ok here we go.......,
First off Project files
PAL 25
Mpeg files
24 bits 720x576
Uper field first
(DVD pal 4.3
The end product is to creat a video file that i can then burn onto a DVD disc
As a matter of interest whilst i was compiling the slide show every thing i entered on the time lines played perfectly
I have yet to try creating a DVD disc allthough I suspect I shall get the same result
Thank you for your help,
much appreciated

Hi Jack
After rendering the project a Thumbnail will be placed in the library.
You should be able to play this, does it sound bad?
Is it just the audio that is giving problems or is the video poor as well?
Can you right click this thumbnail in the library and select properties, what are they?
Your project……
Does it contain any video files?
You will have used some audio files, what type are they?
MP3 types have caused some issues for some users……….
You are best to try Wav audio types……….

Re: UPD file problems
Hi Trevor you are back I see,
I have just rendered the slide show again and played the thumnail, It plays perfectly.
When the just rendered slide show begins to play back automatically on the time line, as in previous post the sound is reall bad and the picture is a little unstable.
I have right clicked the thumb in the library and the properties are...
Format Pal DVD
file size 190,578 kb
Duration 262.720 seconds
Viseo
Video type MPEG-2 Video Upper field first
Total frames 6568
Atribuites 24 bits, 720x576, 4.3
Frame rate 25,000 frames/sec
Data rate Variable bit rate Max 8000 kbps
Audio LPCM Audio
Total samples12,610,560 samples
Atributes 48000Hz 16 bit stereo
Layer
Bit rate
Project does not contain any video files
Music files
Wedding music downloaded from spotify Guess MP3?
There we are strange that the rendered file plays OK from the library, I have not tried copy it to a DVD but that should be Ok what do you think?
Trust you had a nice break
Regards
Jack

Re: UPD file problems
Hi Jack
Timeline project playback does not always represent the final video quality.
If it plays ok from the library then I would assume the video file to be ok.
You could of course locate the file on your hard drive and play it with one of your media players, Windows Media Player or VLC Media Player is a good option.
Now start a new project, nothing in the timelines…….
Share Create Disc, opens the burner module……
Add your slide show video from this window, continue to burn your disc.

Re: UPD file problems
Are you saying you don't know the properties of the audio clips? Simply right click on one. If it is MP3 you should convert it to WAV.Wedding music downloaded from spotify Guess MP3?

Re: UPD file problems
Hello,
The UPD problem has now been resolved.
The buzzing and crackling sound has not.
I have rendered my slide show choosing Create a DVD this produces the bad sound on playback.
So, I rendered the same clip again choosing same as project settings this produces a AVI video clip and this plays ok,
but for some reason neither clip will record to a DVD disc using Pro X2
So this is how i am doing this, i enter the now rendered clip on to the time line having sected new project i then go to
Share >create a disc> select DVD> delete create a menu> and check use first clip as introductory video,
Ok all set to burn the disc, but next is greyed out I cannot proceed any further.
So where am i going wrong? has anyone else had this problem?

Re: UPD file problems
Hi Jack
you cannot use the option "use first clip as introductory video"
deselect this option and you will be able to proceed.
Your DV-Avi video will be recoded and burned to disc.
You may be best to create a DVD Folder, or burn to DVD-RW will save you making further coasters

Re: UPD file problems
Good morning Jack
I assume your project is images only, a slide show.
Set your project properties to :-
PAL (25 fps)
MPEG files
24 bits, 720 x 576, 25 fps
Frame-based
(DVD-PAL), 4:3
Video data rate: 6000 kbps
Audio data rate: 256 kbps
Dolby Digital Audio, 48 KHz, 2/0(L,R)
Then Share Create Video File—Same as Project Properties.
Save the video to a location on your pc that you recognise.
Play this file on your pc using maybe Windows Media Player, is it ok
Then Start a new Project
Share Create Disc—this opens the burner module
Add Video—adding the video you made above.
Continue to create/burn the disc.
Jack please log on to Skype when you have the time, haven’t heard your voice for a long time.
Whether or not how are you keeping and how is Nadine????
