AVCHD Menu Templates

Post by qtrim »

Does anyone know where to get more AVCHD disc menu templates than the 8 that come with it? I was wondering if the demo of DVD MovieFactory 7 has more and if I installed the demo if I could copy the templates over to VSX4.

Using VideoStudio since old Version 7. Currently using X10.

This was covered recently by our other Admin person, RonP: see the last post in http://forum.corel.com/EN/viewtopic.php ... 45#p223945 Ron has also raised this directly with Corel, but has not received any response from them. Nevertheless, as he says, those menus which *are* available are very adaptable.

As for the other part of your question, I just don't know how many come with the demo version of MF7, but usually demo versions have only one or two menus just to give you an idea but at the same time keep the size of the demo version down.

You can change them, but not nearly enough. The ones that came with VS12 and X3 were much better IMO. Most of the ones that came with X4 seem somewhat childish to me. One of the things that would be nice in X5 (when it shows up eventually) is to have a menu template editor, or at least give the user much greater control over templates.

It would appear the the Moviepro templates can be copied over to the corresponding VS X4 directory, and it looks like they work.

Originally X4 comes with 8 menu templates, but Moviepro 7 (which was given as a freebie for a period) has the same 8 plus another 9, or 17 all told. To copy them over to X4 go to this directory (in Win7):

C:\Program Files (x86)\Corel\Corel DVD MovieFactory 7\Corel DVD MovieFactory 7\Content\Menu Template\HD Basic\16x9\HD Basic

and copy all files from template 9 through 17 (obvious from the file names). Paste those into the following directory:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Corel\Corel VideoStudio Pro X4\Content\Menu Template\HD Basic\16x9\HD Basic

After that you should have an extra 9 menu templates appear in your X4 menu options. The file structure is not exactly the same for the two programs (the X4 ones have 6 files for each template while the MF7 ones have 4 files).

I am guessing you could do the same thing for the templates from X2 since it uses the same burning engine. The engine used in X3 was different, so it might not work for that version.

You are referring to MovieFactory 7? There is no Moviepro in Corel's product line.

And if indeed you are talking about the SE version of Movie Factory 7 which was what has been distributed as a freebie with VS X3 -- as opposed to the full Pro version which you refer to -- then my own copy of MF 7 SE only has 8 Blu-Ray menu templates available... And the same also when I choose a hybrid AVCHD disc as the output.

Yup, its a typo. It is Movie Factory Pro 7, it was included as a freebie with X4 a few months ago as a promotion.
