PROBLEM: Unable to open MPEG ENCODER

Post by AwesomeMike »

Hey everyone. I'm currently using Ulead Video Studio 8, and I'm trying to edit MPEG 2 clips. I've had no problem doing so before when I had Video Studio 7, and when I upgraded to Video Studio 8. I have recently installed a new Windows on my computer and had to reinstall the Ulead Video Studio 8 software. Whenever I edit MPEG 2 clips, I use the choice of SAME AS PROJECT SETTINGS under the Create Video File tab which is under the SHARE tab. At the end of the editing % transfer, I get the following message...

Unable to open MPEG encoder.

And the file doesn't save. I don't know what to do or what the problem could even be. I installed a Ulead update: VideoStudio 8 VTB2 Update Pack (Release Date: 2004/11/22), and it didn't help any.

If anyone could help me out here, I'd greatly appreciate it!

Thanks in advance,
Mike

Mike,
Please post your complete set of project properties.

There's not much to list. It's an MPEG-2 (DVD quality) file, and it's 18.4 GB. I've edited many MPEG-2 files the same size before and never had the problem I'm experiencing with this.

Mike,
With your project loaded: File Menu/Project Properties Copy the contents of the lower window on the first screen and paste them into your reply.

Also post the properties of one of your captured video clips (right mouse on a clip and select Properties).

IMHO, 18 GB of mpeg video would be about a 6 hour video. Are you really trying to make a video file of this?

jchunter_2, thanks for the help. I just decided to uninstall and reinstall Ulead VideoStudio 9 and everything works fine.

FYI....the clip was 18.4 GB.....and I was trying to edit it down from nearly 6 hours to 45 minutes. I finally was able to fix everything!

Thanks,
Mike

Is this Ulead Videostudio 8, or Pinnacle Studio 9?
