Upgrading x2 to x4

Post by iskrenpp »

I have x2 version which according to the upgrade requirements for x4 is eligible for upgrading to x4. I have tried different things to make the upgrading of x2 to x4 happen but it didn't. Every time I get error in the beginning of the installation process that just shows -9 on the installatoin window and nothing else. The only message on this screen with the error is that "the system was not updated. Please try at a later time." I have installed all patches for x2 prior to the upgrade to x4 but again nothing. I reinstalled x2 from scratch and all pathces and then tried to upgrade to x4 - again the same error. I have been looking for another person with the same problem but so far I could not find anyone.
IS THERE ANYONE WHO CAN HELP ME WTH INSTALLATION ERROR -9 WHICH IS DISPLAYED WHEN X2 DIGITAL VERSION IS UPGRADED WITH BOXED UPGRADE VERSION OF X4?

You do not have to have X2 installed in order to install X4. For an upgrade all you need is the serial number from the previous version. Maybe try uninstalling X2 then try to install X4.

Thank you for the advice but when I say upgrade I mean that I have purchased an upgrade version not a full version which requires installed at least x2 with all patches. I think I have tried to remove x2 completely and then install x4 but the installer did not even start because the required minimum full version was not present. I will try it again but I am pretty sure x2 is needed before the upgrade x4.

No, that is not true. An upgrade version is a full, complete version. You simply must have a previous version in order to get the upgrade price.

Still nothing. I removed completely x2 and tried to install x4 - still the error. Tried a completely newly created admin account in Win7 and install x4 under it - still the error. I am running out of ideas. I will try I guess to contact technical support but their hours are not so convenient for me and I kind of doubt it that they will be able to help. I am just hoping that someone else has gotten that same error and has resolved it. I googled the error and so far no one has ever had this error.
