Paint Shop Pro X3 doesn't run

Post by aleoutas »

A year ago or so I have bought Paint Shop Pro X2 (boxed) and I've been happy with this software.
Few days ago I've decided to check the newest version and decide if I need to buy the new one.
So I've uninstalled working Paint Shop Pro X2, based on information in this forum cleaned left files and registry entries (btw-why uninstaller doesn't do it and why it is needed to waste so much time for uninstalling???) and I've downloaded from the Corel home site the newest version.
I've just thought I can try a new version before buying it and in case of lack of interesting features for me-I was gonna return back to my bought version.
So far so good.
I have installed downloaded X3 and run it.
After few seconds a window has been shown with the information "This copy of Paint Shop Pro has been damaged or illegally modified. Please reinstall from your original source."
No problem I've thought, maybe something has been corrupted during downloading.
I have downloaded with another browser, uninstalled "damaged or illegally modified" X3, cleaned the system and installed again.
The same.
I have searched this forum and found few issues with similar behaviour.
So I have checked if the service "PSI_SVC_2" works on my system. Works.
Stopped it and started again and tried to run software but still the same stupid window with the information about corrupted (?) or "illegally modified" (???) software.
So now I have no clue what should be done to make it work.
Please help guys :(

Thanx for the answer Abiel :)

Anyway as I have written in my previous post, before posting I have searched this forum and found it could be a reason so I've checked if this service is running.
And it is set to automatic mode and the status is started.
Also in the task manager is shown "PsiService_2.exe"

After many install/uninstall, cleaning the system plus using a tool CDS2010Clean-Upver1_9.exe about I've found information here without any success and all the time the same idiotic information "This copy of Paint Shop Pro has been damaged or illegally modified. Please reinstall from your original source." (as it is NOT damaged and NOT illegaly modified) I have given up and decided to return to my previous bought version X2.

So again cleaning/uninstalling/etc and this time installing my checked and worked X2.
After installing a huge surprise-now it DOESN"T WORK too.
The same smart window with this smart information.

Anybody knows a solution???
I don't want to spend next few days with formating, installing fresh Windows plus many programs with configurations etc.
It looks like uninstalling previous verson X2 makes something in the system which doesn't allow to run this program again :(
What should be done now? :(
