Post by aprendiz »

During the installation process( Corel PaintShop Pro Photo X3 Ultimate in windows7 Ultimate ) comes up:
"Please wait while we configure DirectX ..." and then:
"Installation Wizard not completed. :cry:
Your system has not been modified. To complete installatio at another time, please run setup again. Click Finish to exit the wizard.
-9 ".

What should I do to solve this problem?

My computer has the minimum required by the software.
O.S. : Windows7Ultimate ( service pack 1 up to date );
Memory : 2 Gb;
Processor : Intel Core2 Duo;
Hard Disk : 160 Gb;

Many thanks to anyone who can help me. :

First disable autostarting the DVD in your Windows VD drive properties. Then followthe instrucctions on using setup.exe described on the link below but right click on setup.exe and choose run as admin so it can make system adjustments. See if that helps. Avoid installing it in any Program Files folder.

After installation with the shortcut used to start it set it advanced properties to run as admin as well. In addition to register it and get help files corel.com must be allowed through your pc firewalls and also for e-mail be allowed to pass through your ISP and pc spam filters.

When I was installing X3 I had to disable any and all security measures in Windows (Vista and Win7 Premium). This included Antivirus, Firewall, and UAC (User Account Control). I then also ran the installer as admin, and with the download I also set that to XP compatibility. I did this disconnected from the internet.

I already turn off UAC, so I just leave that off. After install I turned the other security features back on, connected to the internet, and ran the program. After installing I'd suggest proceeding to install all patches in order. I did this manually on my most recent reinstall as I just don't trust the programs auto features.

Let us know if any of this helps.
Regards, Dan

You may also want to install directX separately. You can download the latest directx at http://www.microsoft.com/Windows/window ... tx-11.aspx

In Win 7 it has been documented that turning off UAC does not remove all of its restrictions. There are also some differences in logging in as a user in the admin group and logging in as administrator.

It also should be noted that logging in with admin privileges and running a program at admin levels are two separate functions dealing with security access for files and folders and then executing and communicating with other functions between Windows 7 services and modules. There is user access privileges and program access privileges.

First I would like to thank everyone who contributed with their insights into my questions about the installation of the program.
After several attempts in finding the solution, I learned that DirectX is an integral part of windows7 Ultimate and every time I tried to update it received an error message like "the installation was not completed."
With all the efforts employed based on tips from users of the forum and my observations about what was happening before my failure to install the program, concluded that the only alternative would be to reinstall my operating system.
During all this time I struggled to solve the problem, I bought a video card NVIDIA GeForce GT 430 with DirectX 11 support and 1Mb.
After the drives and install DirectX from a CD and update my operating system with Service Pack 1 for windows7 could finally install the program.
