GIF Animations

Post by roger aslin »

I have Version 4.2 which does more than I want excellently.
However, when I wanted to look at a gif animation I couldn't.
Is Photoimpact broken or am I?

I believe that Photoimpact does not play the animations, just opens each frame individually for editing. Photo Explarer v. 4.2 wil play the animations.

I haven’t had 4.0 on my machine for over four years or so now, and can’t fine the manual anymore.

A way to check to see if your Version of Ulead can open a GIF is to create a dummy image and try to SAVE AS. If the Image will save in GIF format, yes, you should be able to open a GIF, if not something is wrong.

Check to see if you have a setting found in Preferences under another submenu that will alter the way you view a GIF.

If that doesn’t work then try to change the File Association to allow Ulead to open GIF file format, here is how I do that:

Preferences, Categories, System, Associate, Associate the extension with PhotoImpact, check the GIF file extension box, and then select Okay.

If none of the above work you have other issues to resolve. Or, your Ulead may be too old to open the newer GIF format.

I still have Version 6 and it can open and display GIF animations.
