When I make a selection in a picture, the selection dotted line shows a coloured border, which is the colour of the second choice in the Materials palette. Especially if I make an addition to the selection, this coloured line runs right through the selected figure. If I copy the selection, undo the selection and then paste as a new layer, the coloured border, especially in added areas, remains visible.
Anybody an idea how I can get rid of this strange artifact? I didn't use to have it, it emerged a few days ago.
Thanks for your attention

Re: selection is surrounded by coloured line
This is the first time I've seen this problem. try resetting the workspace by pressing and holding the SHIFT key then double-click on the PSP X3 icon then click on the OK button when the window similar to the screen shot below appears.

Sconcor, you won't need to press the shift key every time you start the program. The first time you do it the software is reset and you shouldn't need to do it again unless something else goes wrong.

Re: selection is surrounded by coloured line
Alas, when I close the PSP session for the day and restart my pc the next morning and open PSP, I get the same coloured border along selections again.
It almost looks as if I have a contaminated version of PSP X3, although it has always been ok up to now. Whatever is the matter with my PSP?? And how to solve this irritating and destructive charasteristic? Destructive, because each added part of a selected layer shows a line in the colour of the second Materials Palette along the original selected area, so the total selected layer is ruined.
Thanks for your help.
