PaintShop Pro x3 Problems With Missing Files
I was doing "batch" editing today, just adding a filter to all my pictures. When it finished, my files were gone. The name showes up with a gray box and an X in the middle. When I click on the thumbnail, it says "The specified file can not be identified as a supported type." Yes, I have my originals backed up on CD, but I spent all day editing these pictures. This was my last step before giving them to my client. Is there any way to get them back? If so, how? Also, what is causing this? This has happened even when I am working on one picture.

Welcome to the forums,
What type of photos were they, JPEG, one of the RAW formats, BMP...? Also how were you saving them, to what format? When you say they're gone, this includes trying to view them outside of PSP?

They were jpg format. I can not open them in any other program, tried about six different ones. When the batch process was over, I pressed ok like I always do, and the files were in my tray at the bottom, but they were gray with an x in the middle as the thumbnail. I'm assuming that the batch process saves them as jpg too? What is funny is that some are gone and others are fine.

Re: PaintShop Pro x3 Problems With Missing Files
You need to tell it what format. There is a JP2 or JPEG 2000 format, and several programs have problems opening them. It's located just above the standard JPEG in the file type menu. Can you look at one of the files in Windows Explorer and tell what type of file they were saved to? What type of Batch Process did you run? Was it a script, if so which one?I'm assuming that the batch process saves them as jpg too?
Try running your Batch process again, however this time look at the various commands that it's going to carry out on your images, including the file format they will be saved to.

Re: PaintShop Pro x3 Problems With Missing Files
I did a Filter under Effects then Image Effects, then filters, and did the glamor filter. Then went back to organizer and did a capture edit, using the button on bottom right, then did the batch button. It does not have an option to change how it is saved when you do it this way, but it does say saving as nnnn.jpg when it is working.
When I try to open it with windows it says Windows can't open this file because the file is empty.
