performance of video on tv

Post by tmsco »

Good Day
i was wondering if any of you have noticed when you complete a video with pictures that are moving around and also clip art that it shows around the pics and clip art a flickering effect?
I have tried in the right format output for reg tv also my plasma tv.

Welcome - you say you have tried the right format for your TV - perhaps your opinion of the right format is not the same as everyone else - perhaps you'd like to tell us about your videos - what are the properties of your original videos - where do they come from - how did you transfer them to your computer - what procedures did you use to render - what properties did you set - did you ensure field order remained constant - are frame sizes the same - etc. etc. etc.

Hi there,

handling of flickerfree pictures within videos earlier was a pain with Ulead/Corel.

Best was (and is) to bring the pictures to the right size and format that meets the format of your video. That because the downsizing and rendering quality of most video editors is slow and not really good.

For DVD-PAL (MPEG-2) the size will be the reduced size 720 x 576 pixels (Format 4:3 was 768 x 576).
With 16:9 the format should be 720 x 408.
The HD 16:9 format uses 1920 x 1080 pixels

For panning and zooming you should give some more space around something between 150% to 200% more pixels.

I use the nice and free IrfanView, what can do that (and lots of other fine things) very fine and fast in a batch.

Please don't forget to set the "deflicker" option in videostudio (Main setup).

But nevertheless in some pictures - especially with vertical elements - you will notice some flicker on the elements, especially when the object and picture isn't really in 90 degree angel. In addition that occurs very often, when pictures are sharpened to heavy.

P.s. I have rendered a lot of pictures to video and was very happy about the great quality gain between DVD-format 720x6576 and AVCHD-format 1920x1080 from the same base file.
Regards Martin

Hi there
I have made a few videos and my complaint is the output for the added Pictures which are JPG and also Clip art that is png. When i make the videos I use the hd video in someparts which is downloaded from a jvc mod extention file,or a mp4 hd video then mix later some pictures which are from my computer that are jpeg the size are average 1712 pixels by 2280 pixes 2.5 mb avearage the pics I have coming in from a side with a border added as well by the program, with adding clip art that for example butterflys will fly away from the left side up across to the right etc. I add some text as well. When i am done I use the save as to not lose it and name and then save, share, Creat Video file dvd 16:9 dolby 5.1 then it renderes so then I creat a disc in corel dvd factory pro .So I name it a title and then click on what type of template. The I burn to a dvd. The provided video is great no fuzzy, the corel templates are nice, but it is the pictures and added clip art that does not look professional as the rest. When I have them to move from side to side that is when you see the lag and flickker around them. The pics are ok if I am showing just one pic not to move anywhere. I am just dont know what I am doing wrong sincerly Tmsco

In Preferences > Edit, under Image, is the box ticked beside "Apply anti-flickering filter to photos"?
