Display Images - PSPX3

Post by ShortCake »

Hello,

A friend pointed me here with my issue.

I ran a program called CCleaner and now all of my scrap layouts in my file show up like this (see screenshot below). Even though they are PSP files, you could see the images. It's driving me bonkers. Any idea on how to get them to display back to the way they were?

I have tried a system restore and nothing. Some also told me to do this below......and that didn't work. Plus, I don't know which file type it was before.

Here is what I tried.

1. Click the Organize button on the folder, and choose Folder and Search Options from the menu.

2. Click the View tab, and then make sure that the option to “Always show icons, never thumbnails” is unchecked.

And this....

Another thing could be your file associations (which is likely your problem too Jaime). The icon takes on the look of the default program set to open it.. maybe your defaults got changed?
Try this...
right click on the icon
choose properties
under the General tab you will see Opens With: (your default) and a button to Change.
Click Change
In the Change window you will be able to choose the program you want to open the file and you will want to check the box to change the association for all files of that type.

Any help would be awesome.

Thank you,
Melissa

Make sure that you have the thumbnails enabled for the entire computer, not just the folder/drive you're in. It probably is but let's just touch bases.
In Windows click Start> Control Panel> (I use the Large Icons view) Performance Information and Tools> Adjust Visual Effects (in the column on the left). Make sure that Show Thumbnails Instead of Icons is checked. This will affect the default setting for the entire computer.

Aside from that I've read through some forum posts and most people that have had this problem that I read about either didn't get it resolved or a computer restart did the trick or some other ethereal fix magically happened.

Also you have a 64 bit system. If you open the folder and let it sit there for a few do the thumbnails populate? My wife's 64 bit computer does that with the Canon RAW files. Something about the necessary codecs are 32 bit files and the computer takes a while because of that.

You can try this one..

On that folder where your photos are located, click on TOOLS menu > FOLDER OPTIONS... > Click the View tab then click on RESET FOLDERS button then click on OK.

Well, I have tried both of these and nothing. I might as well give up and just deal with it. :x

Thanks for the responses and the help.

Says who? You give up too easily. There are other options.

Have you tried opening them one by one by double clicking on the files? I realize it's asking a lot with all of those files but if it doesn't work the first time then it won't work any of the other times.

If nothing else you could do what the rest of us did back when PSPX3 first came out, the thumbnail extension was broken and it was a patch or two later before Corel got it working again. (You do have all of the patches don't you?)

Bot productions created their own thumbnail viewer for PSP. Can't guarantee anything but worth a try if you're up for it. http://www.botproductions.com/pspthumb/index.html

No, not giving up because it's driving me crazy. I've been searching the internet for two hours now trying to get this fixed. I even tried the bot thing you mentioned and no luck. I couldn't get it to install on my computer, something about having a newer version. I will get it fixed.....eventually.

Hmm, I think I have all of the patches, but will double check.

Do the files behave the same if you're viewing them on your C drive rather than your external drive?
