Paint Shop Pro X3 Ultimate fails to install

Post by jLAMBE15 »

I get the following error message as soon as i try to execute the installer.

---------------------------

---------------------------
>SetupNew\setup.cpp (140)

PAPP:

PVENDOR:

PGUID:

$

@Windows Vista Service Pack 1 (7601)

IE Version: 9.0.8112.16421
---------------------------
OK
---------------------------

I am running Windows 7 64bit with all of the updates. I have tried the following:
run as administrator
run in compatibility mode
turning off firewall
downloading several times with chrome and safari over 2 weeks
Compare download sizes
right click unblock application in the program properties
I even tried downloading the trial version with your download tool and that fails in different ways.

I see post with similar errors, and the answer always seems to be, after several tries, it just magically works.
Can anyone help?

Welcome to the forums, :)

I don't have a solution to this. I've also seen the other posts with the same error. There's one part of that error message that has me puzzled..
@Windows Vista Service Pack 1 (7601)
For those running Win7 why would this error report Windows Vista? That's rhetorical, so I'm not expecting you to answer it. It's just that part of the error message has been present, and users were running Win7 OS.

I would suggest contacting Corel by phone. They do not charge a fee for help with installing the program. If they provide a successful resolution, please report it back here, so we can make that available to others with the same issue.

I have reported this and I'm sorry to hear about your problem. Anyhow, if you are downloading the installer and selecting RUN, I would suggest that you save the file first on your computer and run the program after it has been fully downloaded. Another solution that you can is to create an admin user name for Windows 7 and install the program using that new user name.

I contacted the Corel install support and it turns out that even though I downloaded the installer several times with several different browsers, it was corrupt. I am using Paint shop pro x3 version 13.2.1.7 and the download file sizes are as follows:

496,402,592 bytes - ESD download size (email link)

Link to download program removed by Admin. Distributing anything but TBYB (Trial) versions is prohibited

493,929,282 bytes - Zip file disc image size

My files indicated download complete, but were short by ~2K. If your download interrupts for any reason, all bets are off.
Hope this post saves you some time.
