Pspx3 - vista - Plugins
Hello
I have problems with plugins, especially with ULEAD filters.
They work fine in pspx but not in pspx3.
Some here have some ideas for what to do to get it to work?
My OS is windows vista home primium 32-bit operating system, I have service pack 2nd
I have downloaded all 4 updates pspx3 and all dll files placed in the appropriate folder, I opened the program as administrator but that did not help ..... Can simply do not think of more things I can do to get them to work.
Thanks in anvance
Chris

Re: Pspx3 - vista - Plugins
Most old plugins are no longer compatible with the latest PSP X3 and Windows Vista. But if you can tell what plugins are you referring, then I can look them up for you and see if we can still make them work.

Re: Pspx3 - vista - Plugins
Have you pointed too those plugins with X3 for it to know it's there?
Open PSP X, click File> Preferences> File Locations. Click Plugins for File Type. Note where all those folders on the right are.
Now do the same with PSP X3, click File> Preferences> File Locations. Click Plugins for File Type. Add any folders that you don't already have. Check all 5 check boxes to allow plugins etc..., click OK. I believe you now need to close and restart PSP X3 to take effect.

Hello Abiel
It is about Ulead Gif-x
Ulead Particle
Art and Texture.
Hope there is a solution, it is the only 3 filters I can not get to work.
DF - I've done præsis as you describe, it is only in pspx3 where I can not get these 3 filters to work, in psp8 - psp x do they work fine.
many greetings
Chris

Re: Pspx3 - vista - Plugins
I too was having issues with the Ulead Particle plug-in, and LeviFiction suggested running PSP as an Administrator and that did the trick for me.

Re: Pspx3 - vista - Plugins
I've only run PSP X3 with the Particle plug-in on an XP machine and now on Windows 7, so I don't know if this is Vista specific or not. Maybe someone like Ron, who has Vista, will come along and add some insight.

Re: Pspx3 - vista - Plugins
I installed the Art Texture and Particles plug-ins on my Vista machine to PSP X3. While they installed and appeared in the Plug-ins menu, they would not work.

Re: Pspx3 - vista - Plugins
Well, if you can't get them to work on Vista and I know you know what your doing, the outlook doesn't look bright.

Re: Pspx3 - vista - Plugins
I tried running the installers in WinXP mode and they still would not work in PSP. However copying the *.8bf file to PhotoImpact's plug-in folder, and they work in PI on Vista. So it has more to do with PSP than just Vista.

Re: Pspx3 - vista - Plugins
Ok I can conclude that if I want ULEAD filters to work in pspx3 so should I upgrade to Windows 7, everything else that is suggested for vista I have tried but without success.
Until now, many thanks for your advice and suggestions.
Greetings

Re: Pspx3 - vista - Plugins
Well yes I did. I went back shut if off, re-installed both and now I can get the Particle filter to work, but the Art texture filter throws an insufficient memory error if I duplicate the layer or have more than one layer.df wrote:You don't have UAC on in Vista do you?

Re: Pspx3 - vista - Plugins
I would not get Windows 7 just to run those plugins. Nice as they are. I would get Windows 7 because it blows Vista out of the water.
Microsoft has special student deals on software if you're a student...though I don't know what kind of location limitations they have on it.
As Df, and Ron, point out turning off the UAC does allow the plugins to work. However, I hate the idea of turning off the UAC for something like this because while it gives you more control it also allows malicious programs to run in the background more easily. Yes you don't have to keep it off, but turning it on and off just to use those plugins is a hassle.
