WinDVD 10 sensitive/unstable with blu ray disc imperfections
On more than one occasion I have encountered an issue with WinDVD choking on blu rays with even the slightest imperfection (when rented from Redbox or through Netflix). WinDVD will load and play the BD just fine, but at the slightest smudge or scratch, will pixelate and then usually quit completely with the dreaded "Media Not Supported" error. I have never experienced this with a blu ray bought at the store and in perfect condition. Having inspected the discs that cause WinDVD to quit, I can tell you that they are nowhere close to being unreadable. Cleaning the discs is a futile effort - usually I have to just navigate 30s or 1m past the unstable area. Are there any patches to this problem? Any insight would be appreciated. So far I haven't been able to find anyone else with this problem in the forums.

Follow up: also tried the disc with ArcSoft TMT5 and had the same problem, although TMT5 just returned to the main menu as opposed to the program crashing. Will be testing on a standalone BD player later to day to see how it handles it. Chances are it's a disc problem, but I still have trouble believing that when looking at the back of the disc.
