Help with Installation of Paintshop Photo Pro x3

Post by Littleangel56144 »

I purchased PaintShop Photo Pro x3 three days ago. It installed perfectly and i was able to use it for the last 2 days. Today I went to open the program and I recieved an error message saying that my software was corrupt and to reinstall. I followed the instructions to completely remove PSP Pro x3 from my computer (all the files and register keys). I then restarted my system and launched the installation executable file. It unpacks and starts up and says installation will begin shortly and then takes me to the screen that should prompt me to accept the service agreement, however the service agreement never shows up and the "next" button never lights up. Any suggestions?

Welcome to the forums, :)

Also try right-clicking on the install file, selecting Run as Administrator. With Vista & Win7, even though your user account may be an administrative one, the built in security does not provide a user with the complete Admin permissions.

I tried following everything in the post you provided. Nothing seems to work. I tried installing in 3 other laptops. No luck :(

Have you tried setting up a full admin account? Or, more precisely, activating the current full admin account?

Open your Start menu and type in "cmd" it should appear under the Program(s) heading.

Right-click on it and select "Run as Administrator."

Type in "net user administrator /active:yes" without the quotes.

This will activate the full user account. Now log-off of your account and switch to the Administrator account that should be visible on the log-on screen.

Try and install PSP this way. Nothing should get in its way.

After it's been installed log-off the admin account and back into your own.

To turn off the admin account, now that you don't need it, repeat the steps above but instead of "active:yes" use "active:no" it's best to keep this account hidden.

If that doesn't work then....Want to get into the nitty gritty of wait chains?

First make sure the installer is running, and hanging, before doing this.

Open up your start menu and in the search box type "Resource Monitor" it should appear under the Program(s) heading.

Click on that and open the CPU tab. Find the installer.

Right-click on the installer and select "Analyze Wait Chain." And report back what you find.

Okay so I followed the steps and attempted to isntall while logged in as administrator..Same result. Just hangs. I then proceeded to do the resource monitor and analyze wait chain.

I found two processes that I thought might be related. One was called PSPP_X3_ULT_PF.exe and the other setup.exe. I ran the Analyze wait chain on both (one at a time). Which just resulted in a pop up saying that it was running normally. I waited for about 30 minutes for each to see if something else would show up but that was it.
