Right now, I edit all of my videos on Cinestream (made by Media 100). It's an awesome program! But I'm having trouble getting the file into DVD Workshop.
When I export the file from Cinestream as an .mov file, it plays just fine in QuickTime. But, when I play the file through DVD Workshop, the audio is 1-2 seconds behind.
I tried exporting the audio from Cinestream as a .wav file and tried to use that to sync them together, but it's virtually impossible to get them to match up exactly. I've tried just about everything.
I love the menu feature in this program, but I spend $400 on a program that I have not been able to get to work since I purchased it 2 months ago. The menus look awesome, but the video/audio situation is very clunky. Any pointers would be greatly appreciated. My videos are typically 30mins to 2 hours. Any suggestions? Anyone?
Audio won't sync up with video - .mov file
Why mov? this is a MAC format which never sits well in WIN, even though there are codecs available. Can you not either encode into DVD-compliant MPEG-2 before opening WS2 or into DV AVI (I assume your input is DV, in which case, it is senseless to do a double-encoding which can do nothing to improve quality). Also, make sure your hardware is up to the task; many AV synch losses are because of inadequate hardware.

Audio Syncing
I have been saving my video as a .mov file because that's the option I'm given from Cinestream. Please give me file types that work best within DVD Workshop.
On a separate note - do you know how I can edit two titles together so they play one right after the other as if it were one movie?

As I understand it, Cinestream was developed by Media 100 for MAC, afterwards ported to WIN, for streaming applications, afterwards sold to Discreet, who no longer market it. This is why their o/p format is mov, which lends itself to streaming via Quicktime. I'm not saying that this is necessarily your only problem, but it ain't going to help.
Effectively, as I understand it, it takes a DV stream and transcodes it to a mov stream. Transcoding is always a little hairy, as you ask your computer to do two things simultaneously and in real time. This require horsepower and the slightest difficulty, such as the HDD moving from one sector to another, may result in lost frames, loss of synch or other glitches.
IMHO, you would be better copying your DV stream to an AVI file, editing it, encoding to MPEG-2 (not necessarily in real time) and authoring your DV. There are many tens of software suites available to allow you to do this, such as the 2 Ulead workhorses, VideoStudio and MediaStudio Pro. Either will allow you to do what you want, including splicing two clips into one. You then use WS2 for your authoring.
Alternatively, if your editing is simply cutting, you can capture into DV AVI with WS2 itself (see p. 40 of your manual), but you cannot seamlessly play two clips, although you can play clip2 immediately after clip1 with a slight pause by placing them in your playlist.

Thank you
Thanks for the information. It seems as thought I'm unable to load in a video that is more than 20 mins. because of the 4gig issue. So, at the 20 minute mark (or less) I have to fade to black in order to link the two titles together.
My other problem is that the chapters start all over at "1" in the second title. I would rather have chapters 1-4 and then start with chapter 5 in the next title. Is that possible?

The bad news is, you need video editing software (i.e. Video Studio) for that. Can't Cinestream do that?On a separate note - do you know how I can edit two titles together so they play one right after the other as if it were one movie?
If you search the forum for "sync", you will find that this is a common problem which apparently has several different causes & solutions. Hopefully, you will find a solution that works for you.
The really weird thing is that a corrupted source file can sometimes play OK, but get out of sync when it's re-multiplexed & re-coded to the DVD format. I was blaming DVD Workshop, when my the real problems were caused by corrupted MPEGs (Corrupted by Video Studio.)
BTW - I have successfully used Video Studio to extract the audio to a wave file, edited the file with a wave editor, and used the modified wave file for my DVD audio. I didn't have to use any "tricks" to keep the audio & video in sync (as long as the MPEG was not corrupted). Of course, I didn't do any cutting & splicing of the separated audio & video files... That would cause a sync error
No , but you can put links to both titles in a single menu.My other problem is that the chapters start all over at "1" in the second title. I would rather have chapters 1-4 and then start with chapter 5 in the next title. Is that possible?
You can also put a chapter-point at the end of chapter 4. Then, if you are using a playlist, your >>| button will take you to the end of chapter 4, where the playlist will take-over an proceed to "chapter 5" (which is really title-2 chapter-1.
