Has there been any further testing, workarounds or fixes regarding the problem of transferring video libraries from X3 to X4 when upgrading? If not, I am afraid my progression with Video Studio may be coming to a close.
Thanks.

Simple answer, No. They changed things just enough to where you can't migrate the older libraries to VS X4.

Re: Transfer Libraries X3 to X4 when upgrading
I am wondering if the following might work as a workaround for that problem:
1. In X3, copy the entire video library to be transferred into a new X3 .vsp project and save that project. For this pupose the name of that project coud be "X3 video library A".
2. Open this project in X4.
3. Copy every clip in this project into a new X4 library.
If any one has both X3 and X4 available on their computer and wants to give this a try, I might be able to upgrade!
I would appreciate any feedback.
Thanks.

Re: Transfer Libraries X3 to X4 when upgrading
I can give it whirl. The video, photos, audio, decoration, flash animations, should all work fine. All you're doing is linking to those files locations, which would be the VS X3 directory, or where your clips are located on your system. Any clips that you have added of course can be migrated in the same manner, again all you're doing is creating thumbnail links to your source clips.

That idea has been mentioned before, and will certainly work.

Re: Transfer Libraries X3 to X4 when upgrading
Another somewhat related question: Can clips in X4 Libraries be sorted by date or names as in X3 and previous VS versions?
Thanks.
Thanks.

Re: Transfer Libraries X3 to X4 when upgrading
Yes they can. VS X4 has a new List view for the libraries. Across the top in List view, the headers are buttons for sorting. In Thumbnail view you use the same means to sort as in VS X3.
