I'm using VS 11. Is there a way to insert gaps between clips on the main video track? I can do this when I move the clips to the overlay track, but I need the overlay track for actual overlays, so I don't want to do that for this project. I need gaps so I can put in narrative text between each clip.
Alternatively, is there a way to have multiple overlay tracks? I could solve my problem that way.

Re: Main Video Track -- How to insert space between clips?
Hi Betty,
The main video track by design, slides to the left to remove any gaps. So you need to place something between the clips, something to act as a placeholder. VS provides the Color clips, blocks or whatever you want to call them. They're found in the Color Library. Just drag one down and drop it on the Main video track. You can adjust the duration by grabbing the yellow handle on the right and dragging it out.
With VS 11 Plus/VS 11.5 Plus, (Note the Plus, with the plain or vanilla version, 11.0 you will not) you have the ability to have 6 overlay tracks. Locate the Track Manager, click it, and in the dialog place a check in the box to the left side of the overlay tracks you want to add.
