PureHD Message, using VideoStudio Pro X3

Post by kballow »

I am using VideoStudio Pro X3 on my laptop at work, a DELL M6400 with 4 Gig of Ram, MS XP Professional, Service Pack 3 with Intel Core 2 Duo CPU, P8700 @ 2.53 GHz.
I keep getting a message window with PureHD in the upper lefthand corner which says, "Please wait while windows configures PureHD". If I let it continue it states that it is gathering information and eventually fails with an error message window stating "ERROR 2718 Missing Package Name for product code". When I click on OK the status bar sweeps back to the left and the process repeats, over and over and over.
I can't seem to find anything in the knowladge base that addresses this issue and I have not been able to find much information on what PureHD is or who it is provide by.
When I cancel the PureHD configuration window it will start again two or three times and them the program will continue more or less normally.

My IT technician is at a loss as to what this is and suggested that I contact Corel to see if there is a fix or patch for this annoyance.
Any suggestions would be much appreciated as this is very annoying and drives me crazy when trying to get anything done in the application.

Thanks,

Keith

Yep, I've had that problem a time or two, and recently. Do a Google search, and you'll find that Ulead was the originator of this..

I also noticed that you use an Nvidia Graphics card. Nvidia has a Pure Video HD. I don't think this is producing the constant install error.

I see in the Geeks to go forum the mention of a msicleanup.exe application from Corel. However I am unable to find this file searching the Corel website. I also see where Corel customer support will talk to you after a $20 fee is paid. Not the most customer friendly customer support I have run across, ha...
Has anyone been able to find the msicleanup.exe application mentioned and could you direct me to it's location?

Ron, you mention you have run across this issue before. What did you finally do to rectify the issue?

Thanks,

Keith

Msicleanup.exe was a Microsoft clean up utility.

"While the Windows Installer Cleanup utility resolved some installation problems, it sometimes damaged other components installed on the computer. Because of this, the tool has been removed from the Microsoft Download Center."

So, I don't know that you will be able to find it.

Thanks for the reply Jeff. The plot thickens.
Guess I am down to asking my IT tech to uninstall the VideoStudio Pro X3 app and try another reinstall, although we have already tried that once before. I have the same application on my computer at home and have no issues with it. I also know of another associate who purchased the VS Pro X3 and he has had no issues with his installation either.

I'll keep looking for a solution but it sure is an annoying problem.

If we do another install, which up-dates or patches do I need to have him install after the application?
I recall that there were three named
VSX3_MLE_Patch.exe,
VSProX3_Patche.exe and
VSX3_SS_Patch.exe

Are they all three needed?

One was the older DVD burning package I believe.

Thanks,
Keith

Another solution that you can take is to update the video card driver. You can visit http://www.nvidia.com/object/product_qu ... _m_us.html on how to update the driver.
