Cannot install PaintShop Photo Ultimate X3

When I double click on the installer, PSPP_X3_Ult_PF.exe, the product unpacks to a temp folder. Then when it's unpacked, it immediately returns the following message, and all but 4 items from the temp folder are deleted:-

The system cannot find the file specified. C:\Temp\Corel PaintShop Photo Pro X3\1.5.1.001\Lang\EN\Custom\Init.htm

I've used MSConfig to disable all non-Microsoft Services and to disable all startup items, but the problem remains.

Have you turned off all security programs and your firewall as well?

Yes - in fact, I've gone so far as to turn off the wireless so that the laptop has no network connectivity, and then removed the AV and Firewall software completely just in case.

However, it has made no difference, and in fact, I have 2 other Corel installers that cause the same issues - VideoStudio Pro X4 and PaintShopPro Project Creator - all of which seem to use the same installer - YET I have other software which installs OK - including WinZip which I also got from Corel.

I'd give your country's Corel Support a call, from what I understand they provide free phone support for installation issues. I think you'll need to be connected to the web with no security measures in place. Personally that makes me nervous but that's the way I had to do it. I also went as far as finding the installer file and turning on XP compatibility mode as well as giving the program a privilege level of Administrator. Corel also recommends that you turn off UAC (User Account Control), and that can be done in the MSConfig dialog in the Tools tab (among other means). Click Change UAC settings and click the Launch button, drag the slider all the way to the bottom. After you get the software installed you can reverse any of these measures but I leave U-gonna-go-Absolutely-Crazy off since it's just an annoyance in my opinion.

Did you by any change install the PSP X3 trial version? If you did, I suggest that you uninstall the trial version first the install the program that you purchased by downloading the install from the order email that was sent to you.
