Timeline Display Mode

Post by richardr »

I'm looking to upgrade from my copy of Ulead's Media Studio Pro 7. According to the Ulead's web site, "Corel is not planning any future updates to this product" so I'm assuming that Video Studio Pro X4 would be Corel's replacement product.

One of the things I really like about Media Studio Pro is the FileStrip Mode of the Timeline Display. I'm experimenting with the trial version of Video Studio Pro X4 and I haven't found a way of getting that type of display mode. Is it possible to get the timeline to display such a mode?

I assume you have found the timeline view (as opposed to storyboard view) but you can not see individual thumbnails - so go to 'preferences' (press F6) and part way down is a drop down called 'clip display mode' - change that to 'Thumbnail Only' - close the dialogue box and you should now have your filmstrip view.

Just note that one frame in the timeline is not necessarily one frame of your video - it depends on how compressed you set your timeline - when fully expanded one thumbnail = one frame but as you compress one thumbnail will represent a number of frames.
